I only needed 2 shelves so the third is on the top held in place by gravity and the shipping rounds. This is not easy to reconfigure so plan ahead before you start the build. It is really not that difficult to do. Be sure to seat the shelves well when done with a light mallet. It should be noted that the shelves have the lip on the top side and not the bottom so things may not hang over the edge well. ... show more

I bought one to put all the soda can, juice bottles etc on to clean off floor of pantry. It was so sturdy, I bought another for sports drinks, water and other items. Realized I had some room left and got a third for heavy items on up the shelves. I would recommend them.

I have 16 of these around my house, of different sizes and brands, and there's a knack to it. Unfortunately, the instructions that come with this shelf aren't very good. So I hope this helps... 1. Screw the feet onto all the tubes. 2. Determine how high you want your lowest shelf, and make a mental note of which groove that is. 3. Arrows up, place two black clamping pieces around each tube over the groove you chose, now SLIDE THE PAIR OF CLAMPING PIECES UP AND DOWN OVER THE GROOVE UNTIL THEY CLICK INTO PLACE. 4. Slide all four rods through the corner holes of one of the shelves (these shelves are trays with sides, see diagram), stand the unit upright, and gently pound near the corners of the shelf until each hole is pressed tightly around the black clamping pieces. The holes are slightly cone-shaped and so are the clamping pieces when coupled. Pushing the shelf down causes the clamping pieces to tighten around the rod. 5. Decide on the location of the next higher shelf, choose the groove on the rod that goes with that height and place your next two black clamping pieces, arrows up. Slide the pair of clamping pieces gently up and down until they click into place over the groove. Repeat with all rods. Continue with step 4. Good luck :) ... show more

We had to return this only because we were gifted a similar product and did not need both (and you can’t pass up ‘free’!) That said, these units are incredibly easy to assemble and very sturdy.
