The packaging and the shipping box were undamaged. The damage inside must have happened during or before final packing. We didn't want to waste any time waiting for another unit and had the glue and tools to repair it so we went ahead. The lower front trim was broken apart from the base. It was still attached but separated with a crack line where it was glued. The finish was fine, so we cleaned and reglued the trim and blocks. We used crown staples to make it more secure. Assembly was fairly smooth except not all the pre-drilled screw holes were deep enough. Some were more like dents so we ran a drill bit to a deeper depth. All holes were in perfect alignment and the rest went good. Overall it is a nice sturdy piece of furniture that sits solid on it's six legs and does not wiggle. Shipping was fast and except for the repair and drilling, the assembly was good. ... show more

This media stand resulted in a clean, professional looking result for my new 85 inch LCD TV. Everyone loves it, and the price can’t be beat. A key feature of this item is that it is constructed of solid wood (soft pine or poplar is my guess), with no particle board. This makes it lighter, stronger, easier to repair, and simple to modify if needed (which I explain below). Although being made of solid wood makes it lighter than its particle board competitors, the shipping box is heavy as it’s a large piece of furniture. I opened the box on the ground floor and carried the pieces upstairs. It’s much better to make multiple trips safely than one trip to the doctor with an injury. The instructions were excellent, and all the parts clearly labeled. I am very handy, and it took me 90 minutes to assemble by myself. It's not simple, but with patience anyone can do it. If you are not handy, then bribe a handy friend or relative to do it for you. Handy people are helpful people, and like hugs ... and bribes. I made 2 enhancements to hide all the wires which resulted in a very clean, professional finish: 1. Drilled a hole through the back panel behind the upper right door so I could put wires through it and use that compartment as a home for a power strip and extra TV cables. Everyone needs a home. 2. Installed a 1”x3” strip of stained pine to the back edge which allows the top shelf to press up against the wall so you can’t see between the wall and the back of the stand. This completely hides all the wires that you spent time running behind the wall when you view the stand from side. I didn't want to see any wires! The flipping shelf in the middle needs to be screwed in BEFORE the whole thing is done, unless you have a stubby screwdriver (we need up having to buy one for this reason) Top part of my table came broken. Took 2 people, just over 2 hours to build.

There are clearly some major manufacturing issues. Parts of the wood that were supposed to have pre-drilled holes didn’t, many pieces of the wood/trim don’t line up, and many of the holes are mis-aligned — not due in any part to the assembly. Not to mention the top piece was clearly broken even though none of the packaging was damaged. At this point I have to “make do”, but for $600 this should have been much higher quality… at least Amazon customer service tried to replace some parts and gave me a discount, though it took a month when all was said and done, on top of 3 hours clamping and using wood glue to get it to an “acceptable” condition. ... show more
