This media stand is very solidly built, and looks beautiful. The unit comes disassembled in a rather heavy box. It took about an hour to carefully unpack and sort the pieces, and about 5-6 hours to fully assemble it. The instructions are long, but very clear and easy to follow. The only required tools are 2 screwdrivers (one flat-head, one Philips). An awl came in handy for starting the short screws for the back panels, for which holes are not pre-drilled. Everything else fit together nicely and had pre-drilled holes. Some reviews mention problems with scratches and imperfections in the finish, but my unit was in perfect shape. The wood and the finish are quite handsome, and it looks great in my TV room! I’m very happy with the unit. This is entirely made of solid wood with a nice polished finish (except for the back panels, which are thin luan plywood, but that’s typical even on solid wood furniture). It’s more expensive than other units I looked at, but its a real piece of wooden furniture, not cheap chipboard, and I feel like it was worth the money. ... show more

    • Nice piece but SO hard to assemble

I really like this piece and it's well made but definitely NOT easy to assemble. First the good things about it: 1) It's solid wood and pretty well made 2) It's a really nice color and they had a bunch of colors to select from 3) It came super quick. Like three days to Hawaii 4) It was delivered right to my door so I didn't have to move it up the stairs myself 5) It is exactly as described 6) They include a lot of extra screws and they are well labeled, which was critical as I stripped some of the screws and lost some in the carpet 7) The instructions are clear and easy to follow with words and pictures 8) The hardware is very nice and well made 9) This is a well designed piece and it looks really good when it's done. The stain is even and all the parts match well Now the bad things about it: 1) There are so many screws to put in. You need a good Phillips head screw driver. You actually need an electric screw driver/drill to put this together without straining you wrist 2) Some of the predrilled holes were so shallow that it was hard to get the screws to go into the wood. I had to get out my drill and re drill some of the holes 2) Some of the predrilled holes were missing all together so you will definitely need an electric drill to put this together if yours is missing some holes 3) This piece is HEAVY! You will need two people to lift it upright off the floor at some point 4) Some parts are impossible to put together by one person. You need more than two hands for some parts like screwing on the back pieces and attaching the doors to the main part 5) There are some scratches and dings on the piece I got. They are pretty small so I can touch them up 6) Since part of this cabinet is assembled while the cabinet is laying down on it's side and then the last part has to be assembled while it is standing up, you will need to be able to easily get up and down off the floor repeatedly. So if you have trouble doing this you will have trouble getting this put together. It took us many hours over several days for it to be assembled 7) This thing is so heavy it would be hard to put back in the box and send back. I had to open the package on the porch and bring in the pieces a few at a time. You will have to be strong to get this thing off the porch and into your house while it's still in the box. You're best to assemble it near where you will use it because it is super heavy to be moved, even by two people Even with the problems I had I would buy this again as the price was good and I can't get anything comparable where I live ... show more

We have purchased Simplihome furniture several times before and the quality is very good. This one is fairly easy to assemble but make sure the bottom piece lip faces down or else you will never get the bottom drawer in. Had a couple of small nicks that I fixed.

Although the unit looks very nice, it is of somewhat poor quality. Some of the wood parts are very brittle and as a result as you begin assembly you see cracks appear. I also found the 'cam-lock' fittings to be of very low quality and very fragile. Several shattered as I assembled the unit. One of the parts was damaged in shipping yet based on looks, I planned on keeping the stand so I started assembly. That's when I noticed the cracks. At that point I contacted both Amazon and the manufacturer. Amazon customer service was absolutly no help. I think it was an off-shore group whose only advice was to 'ship it back'. When I told them the original carton was damaged they told me to purchase a new one! Where do you find a 6' tall custom box? I did not hear back from the manufacturer about replacement parts in a timely manner so I ended up taping the old carton back togather and returning it. By the time it gets back to Amazon it will be dumpster material. Pretty poor customer service policy Amazon. Hours wasted in assembly, dis-assembly and packing the unit back up. In summary, unit looks good, but not worth what Amazon is selling it for and certainly not worth what they claim is the list price. ... show more
