I have just finished assembling my 5th piece of simplihome furniture. I have done them all by myself and I am a 75-year-old woman. Not to say that I am necessarily as strong and capable as I used to be, but I have still been able to accomplish everything. The furniture is correctly marked and correctly pre-drilled when needed. All the equipment has been there. The hardware, the doors, the drawers --everything has been exactly the way it should be. The directions are clear. The pictures are good with enlargements of specific areas when needed to show detail. There are times, though, when I change a bit of the order of the way things are assembled because it makes sense to me. The most impressive thing is that everything is actually wood. There is some plywood with veneer, but there is no particle board. The one occasion when I did have contact with customer service it was excellent and there was nothing the company had done wrong. I had just overlooked a piece but it was actually shipped to me. Nothing ever has arrived in a damaged condition. When assembly is finished, the piece of furniture is sturdy and attractive. ... show more

I thought I was getting a pretty little cabinet for my front nook of the stairs. However because of my num-nutness I put the bottom upside down so the D divider was short. Once I fixed that it worked much better. Also make sure you do not over tighten or the wood will split. It does mar easily, but since I have critters I decided to cover the top with a towel to keep clean and keep it from being dinged. ... show more

I disliked that the two drawers come out. Only a tiny piece of wood to hold. No side brackets. Draws move side to side and hang, you need to be careful the draw doesn't fall on your foot or or floor. Hazard.

Material was my greatest concern, I was not disappointed, the material is strong & sturdy, I can build furniture but I wanted to get something ready made that was better than what I can do.     • Be careful don’t over tighten the bolts

I wood used seems quite solid. But please know (as I believe others have said) there is an oder - hopefully the smell will go away. They note in the instructions several times - do no over tighten your bolts ( Sadly I feel I may have ). In putting it together I was doing pretty good .... till I got to the door. Ooops ... they did not have any predrilled holes or any marking I could see om the inside of the cabinet for the hinges. (Manufacturer if your reading- holes are not absolutely needed, but maybe just some black marks where the screws need to go .... because omg hanging doors is very difficult.... atleast for me and I have done it a few times. (My husband rescued me and got the doors hung). Overall the cabinet seems good and study - good value for the price. ... show more
