I'm a little confused at some of the reviews that said it was hard to put together and that the instructions were bad. I told my wife that this was the easiest piece of furniture I've ever put together. Everything was clearly labeled including all the hardware and was surprisingly sturdy when fully assembled. It is small like others have said but look at the dimensions people and measure to see if this is the right fit for your application! This bench is beautiful! The wood is solid hardwood. The finish is really nice. The color is just what I wanted and is true to what is shown (I ordered black). The other reviews said that it is hard to assemble, but my husband had no trouble with it. The reviews did call out that the hardware was not very good, and it is true that one of the bolts was defective. But that is not enough for me to reduce my review by even 1/2 a star. Nice sturdy furniture. Looks great in my mud room. Storage space is decent. Did come with some minor dings to the wood where someone coated them with paint to cover it up. But it's going in the mud room so you can't tell unless you look really hard and close.

It truly is a perfect piece for our foyer/entryway. It was boxed perfectly, with nice foam/styrofoam/cardboard surrounds in a hefty box. Fedex delivered nicely. I unboxed, all pieces were there with hardware in labeled ziplok bags - instructions turned out to be quite easy. About 9 wood sections and screws went in with hex wrench-supplied, and phillips screwdriver. Took me about 40 minutes, but I am quite handy. The finish (white enamel) is great/smooth, everything fit great, and it is very solid - looks just like the picture on Amazon. Very pleased, and the factory should be commended - I plan to write an email to SIMPLIhome for a job well done. Now we need to find or make a cushion for the benchtop. We plan to keep our shoes inside so we can change in the foyer rather than bedroom/livingroom. They get a 10+++ for this product and service. ... show more

I really wish this would’ve worked out. The bench is really cute and exactly what I was looking for but I received it broken. I returned the item and tried again and it arrived broken again. I gave it this rating because I would’ve loved it if it had arrived without any problems. I am getting a refund this time. Update: I returned the item July 1st it’s now July 20th and I still haven’t received my refund. There’s no contact information so I can’t even call and ask about my refund ... show more

I was worried when the box arrived looking beat up but the contents were ok once I opened it up. It appeared to be packaged pretty well with lots of plastic wrap, Styrofoam and cardboard pieces. I'm somewhat surprised that the back of the bench has open vertical slats and is not solid like the front as pictured. For ventilation? As long as you don't place it somewhere with the back visible, it looks good. The instructions were easy to follow and parts and pieces were identified well. The only difficult part if you don't have someone else to help you with is securing the 3 hinges of the bench top to the unit.
