I just completed assembly of the 72 inch model and I’m happy to report the result is as good or better than I expected. Assembly instructions were clear and no parts were missing or damaged. The entire assembly fit together perfectly and all pre drilled holes were exactly where they should be. I was finished in 4 to 5 hours without grumbling as I normally do a lot when I assemble furniture. I was a little skeptical when buying the tv stand because Amazon posted a notice on this item indicating it’s returned often. Now I realize it must be due to inability to follow instructions and/or unfamiliarity with furniture assembly. I normally don’t write reviews but I did this time because I feel the manufacturer deserves a “job well done”. ... show more

We are probably odd people. Our house is called "the bat castle", just to set the tone for you. Halloween is all year round. We bought this in black, because, is there any other color? What lead to this purchase was that we recently bought a house (how adult), and we love it - but the living room is not good at rooming. The angles are all bizarre, there are windows where furniture should live, The way the room is set up now puts our TV in a corner that is not even remotely a perfect angle, because in the 1900's, people didn't have TVs. Love the character of a 1900's house, not so in love with the layout of the rooms. Ah, the struggle is real. In any case, we shopped for a corner TV stand, because that seemed logical. The problem was finding one that wasn't hideous (seriously, is it THAT hard to make something in black? We cannot be the only weirdos who buy furniture) or too small, or unnecessarily bulky. After much frustration with not finding one of these, it made sense to expand and get something not intended for a corner - because that is just coloring inside the lines for adults - how boring. The package is large and heavy - get someone to help you. Also - you should allow yourself a good 20 minutes to unpack the box. Pour a glass of wine, put on some tunes, and don't rush through it, because there is a LOT of packaging. That is NOT a complaint at all. One has to appreciate that someone took the time to wrap each piece in protective foam (which I also don't recommend disposing of until after the assembly is complete - as others have already posted in regards to this piece, the finish is delicate and will chip easily, but you can use the packaging to protect each piece as you are assembling it). I cannot stress the importance of sorting everything prior to assembly, especially if doing this with a partner whom you value. I also highly recommend finding someone to help you - assembling this alone would be unwise - if you have to bribe someone, do it. This part is especially true during the door installation - if my partner had not been there, I wouldn't be typing this. It took 2 of us about 2 hours to fully unpack, sort, and assemble this piece. It is a perfect height, which was a big reason why I purchased this stand. 32" high which makes viewing from any area of the room perfect. We are upgrading the TV from the current one which is about 45" - going up to a 55" - but it will fit nicely on this stand. The other plus is the storage. The center shelves have air vents (!!!!!!! seems so obvious - why doesn't EVERY TV/Entertainment stand have this feature?????). We have a PS4, a Roku, and a VCR/DVD combo (hey, I have a lot of VHS tapes that cannot be replaced - sue me, I'm old school) and there is still so much room. And there are two pretty big cabinet spaces for any little things you might want to tuck away. (VHS tapes & some games/blu rays) If you want something with a lot of storage, a great height, which doesn't take up a lot of depth (this is only 19" deep), GET THIS. You don't even have to love black as much as we do because it's sleek, and would probably work in cheery home too. ... show more

First off, the delivery of this Amherst TV Media Stand was very timely. The box looked like it had been through a war, so I worked it into the house and proceeded to unpack everything to make sure all was well. Everything in the box was well packaged and undamaged, with the exception of the top, which had one corner cracked and chipped. The corners were protected with foam blocks but something more substantial should be used. The chip was ready to break off, so I pressed wood glue into it and the crack, clamped it and let it set for a couple of hours. I lightly sanded the corner to remove anything that might snag a dust cloth. The finish was then touched up using a Tombo ABT N15 Black touch-up pen, which my wife uses in touching up frames after she frames her paintings. In the meantime I read through the instructions and proceeded to start the assembly. Right off the bat parts E-L and E-R were mismarked; the left one had the right sticker and vice versa. The instructions are a little difficult, but I was able to get it put together, in about five hours, by myself. The hardware that comes with this is well marked in individual bags, which is nice. It even comes with two Allen wrenches and extra hardware. I have assembled four pieces of furniture this year, 3 pieces in the last 2 months and this was the most challenging. The holes were properly placed and everything fit up pretty well, considering this is made from solid wood and not MDF like the others I put together. Solid wood shrinks and warps, so things can change, creating challenges that you don't get when dealing with MDF products. Taking this into consideration the fabrication of all pieces was done pretty well. My only issues were two screw holes that were a little large so the screws would not tighten - they were snug but not near as tight as all the others. The Cam Lock pins and cam lock hardware are not top quality; I had a couple that did not want to tighten and one that bent while trying to tighten. This was easily remedied by squeezing with a set of pliers to flatten it back out. Some of the cam lock pins were not real straight, but a slight tap with a small hammer took care of that. Other than these little issues it went together pretty well. Last but not least, there are no pre-drilled holes for the four back pieces - not a huge problem I drilled my own. It would have been nice if the back was one piece, but the four work. My only other negative about this Entertainment Center is the center shelves are stated to be adjustable, but there is only one other set of holes to either move the bottom shelf up or the top shelf down. I ended up drilling a couple of new holes to raise the bottom shelf height by 3/4" to accommodate my equalizer. I did not install the doors which I am pretty sure would have taken another hour or so. I am very picky about how things get done and strive for perfection in all I do, but as you all know, nothing is perfect so we do the best we can. All in all this project has turned out very well. Total time to complete my project, including moving all of my audio equipment, was about 12 hours. ... show more
