When I had my babies, everyone had nightgown to put their babies in at night. With all of the newer clothing you dont see them much anymore. But when i go to a baby shower I always get these as a present and the mothers tell me how much they love them. In the middle of the night when you change them you dont want to fight with legs in and out of onsies. Just push up the nighgown, change and pull back down again, sometimes without even waking the baby after a feeding. Carter's has always been a good name in baby clothes and these dont disappoint. The material is soft and colors are pastel and with cute designs. The bottom of the nightgown has elastic to keep it somewhat closed if the baby is small and as they get bigger it would fit close but loosely around their legs. You can use a nightgown longer than a onsie because if it still fits their body but legs are longer, then the feet can stick out. ... show more

I love that these are newborn size and not 0-3. We have a small newborn that doesnt fit fully in some clothes or in her other night gown sleepers. These are perfect!! A little big on the arms but its okay. They are so practical with diaper changes at night time!! Worth it!! Love the carter ones!!

    • Alternative to Swaddle

Purchased this for my 1 month old who is a little under 8 pounds and about 20 inches long. I was looking for an alternative to swaddling her at night that would make it easier to check and change her diaper without having to unwrap then rewrap the swaddle, sometimes wasting time because the diaper wasnt even dirty to begin with. They fit well, a little long but that's the point. The elastic at the bottom is tight but not too tight, she can push her own feet in and out with some effort. They are a bit tough to get on and off, the material feels stiff to me which I think makes it harder to slide over her head and to get her arms through. The tighter elastic on the bottom also tends to make it harder to slide it up when checking/changing a diaper . Especially half asleep at night in the dark I tend to not make sure I pull it up high enough in the back because I feel like you really have to manhandle the baby to pull it up in the back and I've had a few times where I've gotten the gown dirty and needed to change it which is very annoying. I do like that it has the built in hand coverings in the sleeves, it's cute, and it is definitely easier to check the diaper status at night than using the swaddle. She appears to sleep just as well in the gown as the swaddle, but she always preferred having her hands out of the swaddle anyway. ... show more

I'm a little surprised how many reviews are saying these are small. I didn't start using then until she was 4 months old. I just tugged and stretched out the fabric and seams a little and I seeing it fitting her at least another month. Did a little altering with the elastic at the bottom and it fits great now.
