  • Awesome scope for the price/quality ratio.
I am really happy with this scope. Surprisedly! I almost exclusively put Leupold optics on my rifles, but I was interested in mounting something on my AR for shooting at the range. I didn't want to buy a new Leupold just for my AR, hate it on the AR, and then have something sitting in my safe waiting for my next rifle purchase. Here's my thoughts: Pros: - The price for this can't be beat. Seriously, for the quality of scope that you get with respect to the price, I am really impressed. No, it's not Leupold quality, but it's also not even close to the same price. You can buy close to 10 of these for the price of a Leupold. Would I put one of these on a rifle that I am packing into the mountains, heavily invested into an elk hunt, no. But for a range rifle, heck yeah. I'm thrilled. - The zero has held between trips to the range, and that's an important hallmark of a good scope. Your zero cannot drift. My last trip to the range, I started to drift bad, and was confused, but soon realized my rings were loose on my Pic rail. Tightened them back down, and back on zero. - The clarity through this lens is quite good, again, with respect to the price. I am equally impressed. There's a slight blur around the edge, but nothing worth worrying about. It's very slight. Cons: - None to report. Overall, I am thrilled with this scope, especially with the price. I bought the same scope with a 50mm objective that lives on my 45-70 and love that one too. It stands up the the beating of the 45-70 very well. Great scopes. • Great scope for the money.
I have four of these, on a .308, .243, .233 and .22LR. They all hold zero perfectly. Never failed me, even after hundreds of rounds over the years. They are not the greatest in low light, but have taken many deer with these scopes, from 40 yards to 250 yards. I have a few high end scopes, Burris / Vortex, the Simmons does not compare to a $500 -$600 scope, but for the money, they hold up and perform as good as scopes that cost twice as much. ... show more

  • Disappoined
After about 100 rounds the reticle started moving around, you could lay the gun down then pick it up and it had moved. Very disappointed but its a 50 dollar scope. I have the 3x9x32 rimfire on my wife's 10 22 and it is doing fine so far. And because I had this just over a month before I used it Amazon is not taking it back so I need to send it in for warranty work on my dime. I'm sure that will be a joy. When I get it back ill keep it as a backup , I already ponied up a little more money for a Nikon prostaff rimfire hope it will be better, the reviews look good. ... show more

  • Very Difficult Sight Adjustment
This is an OK scope for the money BUT the windage and elevation adjustments leave a lot to be desired. The knobs require a strong grip and a lot of force to turn making it almost impossible to feel any incremental MOA adjustment clicks. Forget anything audible. Consequently you'll have to look directly at the ring and line up the knob to the hash marks as best you can, This is a hit and miss proposition at best. My son warned me about this but I didn't heed his words and now I wish I had picked something better. ... show more

  • My first words were NO WAY!
I received the scope on time and well packaged. After installing a Monstrum picatinny rail and Monstrum one inch scope rings on my newly acquired 1975 Marlin 336, 30/30 rifle, I installed and leveled the 8 Point Simmons scope and bore sighted it. A few days later, I took the rifle to my local range, pointed it down range, put the clear, easily acquired, crosshairs on the target and placed the first shot dead center bullseye. I looked at the Range Officer and said, NO WAY! No adjusting, I didn't even remove a turret cover. Nice finish, clear glass and easy installation and it didn't cost as much as a firearm. There is no downside to this purchase. ... show more

  • Already buying a 2nd one.
Love it. I screwed up and turn the elevation and windage adjustments too far. I found the perfect and easy fix. put a mirror against the scope and look through it, you'll find 2 cross hairs, simply adjust until you only see 1 and you are back to zero.

  • Very clear glass, shitting tracking but hold zero, 7-9 power has very tight eye box.
The simmons3-9x40: about 300 rounds of 5.56 worth of use. The 3-6 power range is actually beautiful and highly functional with plenty of forgiving eye relief. The 7-9 power range is adequate. But the eye relief really tightens up,and you've got to really get that sweet spot. The tracking, which you neither hear, or see, or feel, seems to hold zero, once you figure out which way is up, down, left or right. The glass is freakishly clear for the price point: had absolutely no trouble seeing .22 caliber hits on show n see targets at 200 yards. If you need some inexpensive but functional glass, buy the simmons! ... show more

  • I think I received a faulty scope
I tried everything to try and get this scope in line with my laser boresighter and nothing would work, I tried another scope I have on with the same mounts and rings and right away it lined up for me. I think the windage dial doesn't work, I would turn it and turn it but the amount of adjustment I got was nowhere near enough to reach the point of aim. I'm going to try and get a replacement, because it looks great and feels like it would match up to my 10/22 perfectly. ... show more
