I used this saw to cut through rose bush vines, swinging it like a machete. Very durable blade, even with my abuse. I have been wanting to buy a silky for many years now and I finally followed through. Although I received the product with really messed up packaging, I could not be happier. When I opened the Amazon box, I noticed that the packaging for the saw itself was torn and squished in a few places. I immediately contemplated complaining about it, but when I got the saw out of the packaging I was beyond satisfied. If the saw wasn’t such a magnificent tool, it wouldn’t have gotten five stars from me despite the packaging mishap. Now, I probably didn’t need to go for the professional model, but I appreciate the grip on this one immensely. Because of the composite grip, your hand doesn’t lose grip when cutting. I imagine the plastic grips on the standard models might allow your hand to slip in less than ideal conditions. However, I am still planning on getting the pocket model with the plastic grips for venison processing. In conclusion, the craftsmanship on these saws are insane. They are sturdy, sharp as heck and elegantly wicked. Silky will have my loyalty for the rest of my life. The BigBoy is a mean tree eating machine.

I have the silky gomboy and it can handle most cutting tasks. This big boy saw is like moving from a garden trowel to a spade, comparatively speaking. I used it to finish cutting limbs and trunks that were too big for my lopper. I have been clearing out a wooded area along a creek behind my house. I have a 4.5 lb splitting axe, but after 20-30 swings, I'm huffing pretty good. The big boy cuts faster than the gomboy and with less effort, and WAY easier than the axe.

If you are a camper, etc this is an amazing saw. I wish I had bought one long before. Learn how to use it on the pull stroke and it does the work for you. It is very sharp and not for kids on sloppy people..

It’s just what I expected when I ordered this for my husband. It has razor sharp blades and a very nice wooden handle which folds up nicely and slips into a canvas like sheath with a grommet hole for hanging. We will be using it around the farm and it will become a travel saw for camping. Extra nice tool.

I've seen a lot of youtubers using these saws and I've waited quite a bit, still using a cheap old bow saw before dishing out for one of these fancy saws. But I'll say, I should have bought one sooner. They cut incredibly well, and they live up to the name. The cuts are nice and clean. I use a lot of hand saws doing woodwork, and after using this thing camping and for bushcraft I have to say they not only cut easily, they cut beautifully. It's lighter and more compact than my old bow saw. So it's much better for keeping in a pack. I'll try to update this once I've used it enough to get it dull, but so far so good. An aside for anyone who really uses any kind of hand saw, make sure you cut using the full length of the blade so they wear evenly, and that will also help extend the life of your saw.
