Given the cost and the manufacturer I expect very high quality and it certainly meets that bar. This is third Silca pump. I bought the second one this replaced in 1986 so the durability has always been excellent. This has a much appreciated longer hose, a wider, more solid handle and a presta chuck that let's you drain the valve/chuck pressure before you remove it after pumping. Those are killer features. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because Silca choose to use black numbers on a red background for the gauge. As a 6'2" person who wears glasses I find it overly hard to read. I took the photo to try and depict what the gauge looks like to me. Make the numbers white or the background a lighter color and this would be a 5+ star pump. ... show more

Everything about the pump speaks to a quality build. The only negative is the difficulty in getting the head over a presta valve then removing it without a fair amount of force. This should get easier with more use and some wear but right out of the box be aware it isn't as easy as some other designs. This pump is firmly rooted in no man's land. Not quite terrible but not quite good either. The Chuck barely stays on your valve and the action isn't any better than the cheaper pump. Your be better off saving your money and buying a less expensive model.

The psi dial is hard to read based on the color of the dial face. The light has to shine on it just right for a visual reading to be clearly seen.
