Description

You were all ready to go for a ride and. . . darn it if you tire doesn't need a little more air. No worries, you have the Schwinn Air Center Max Floor Pump. Sure, there are plenty of bike pumps out there, but the Air Center Max has several key features that make it a great asset when you're in a pinch. There is a wide metal base that keeps it stable and an indicator-style pump head that takes the guess work out of wondering if the pump head is truly attached to the valve. When the handle is up the window is green, meaning it is ready to connect. When the handle is down, the window is red, meaning it isn't ready to connect. Easy, right? You have the option of a Presta or Schrader valve so all the bikes in the family are covered. With a pump, the height of the barrel is equal to the capacity, which is how much air the pump can push into the tire per pump. With a 24-inch barrel height and a 44mm diameter steel barrel, you'll get a nice gust of air with each pump, which means fewer pumps for a fully-inflated tire. There are molded handles for comfort, a convenient top view gauge that goes to 100 PSI, and an included sports ball needle and inflation cone for all your pumping needs. If you wrap the handle in tape I think it would be good. It leaves painful bruises on my hands from the air pockets in the handle building air pressure as i press my palms into them. Its not beefy but it works good. Using on my bike it got to 80 psi but I couldnt get it off the valve without losing 5 psi and i think i tore up the rubber on the rubber sphincter on the threads of my valve trying 10 times. I just filled it up 5 above what i wanted and it worked. I can still see bruises on my hand 3 or 4 days later and they hurt for a whole day. ... show more

Great pump at this price point. Honestly, no need to buy an 80.00 floor pump when this does the trick. Pressure gage was correct when tested with a digital tire gage.

I have tried a couple other pumps, this is the best. First, size matters in bike pump. DONT get one that's about 15-17 inch tall. Get one at least 25 inch tall. This one is much much more efficient. With 3 pumps, the pressure goes from 50psi to 80psi. With the smaller pump, I had to pump like 20-30 times to get it upt tp a usable psi. Moreover, the gauge is more responsive as well (not sure about accuracy as I don't have psi tester). And it seems to hold the pressure better as well (the smaller ones touches 80psi as I pumped but then it went back to a lower psi---not sure it's a gauge problem or not). Not sure about longevity as I just got the pump, but it requires less effeot and seems to work as intended. I was planning on on getting a Joe Blow but this one is fine with me. Lastly, the seal is great as there is no leak as I pump ( the smaller ones never seem to seal properly). Overall, a very nice pump for the price. I hope it lasts. ... show more
