It is very difficult to find solid wood furniture these days, and almost never in this price point. So I knew it was NOT real wood when I ordered it. I feel like it is sturdy enough for the purpose of holding clothing, it has a pleasing look (my daughter's room is very western themed), it arrived within a week of me ordering it and it came assembled. UPDATE: So, after a.month I finally brought it in the house. The smell hs decreased a lot and is tolerable. I think it will eventally fade away. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This dresser is well made, the drawers glide smoothly and silently. The appearance is very nice but it has a strong smell. I have been airing it out in my garage for almost a month and it still smells of glue and particle board or cardboard. I.am not sure which but I can't bring it in the house. I hope the smell will fade enough for me to actually be able to use it. I don't want to return it because it is so big I am sure it would be a nightmare trying to send it back. This dresser arrived with the top completely busted. The drawer face was broken in 2 places, it was pulling away from the actual drawer, the track was broken out and the wood spacer was completely broken out. The top corner was also pushed in and damaged. Its incredibly heavy and a pain to move. The dimensions of this were larger than my old dresser, but the drawers are so shallow this may as well be for children's clothes because I could barely fit half of what my old drawer could hold into one. To top it all off, in order to return it you have to put it back in the box which, if it doesn't already come damaged, you basically have to cut apart to get the product out. This came faster then expected - by 2 weeks by the estimated arrival date. The dresser comes intact in a huge box - the only thing you have to do is screw on the handles. Delivery is by a furniture company but they don’t unpack it for you. I recommend using 2 people because it is very well packed and attached to a piece of a wood pallet for extra sturdiness - so you will have to out the box on its side to get all the staples out. I was very impressed with how well it was packed, and the dresser is absolutely beautiful. The drawers are very smooth moving also. I lost MY closet when ‘kids’ moved back home. This chest of drawers fit perfectly in the master bedroom. I love the plank look and it actually matches similar items in the master bedroom. Sturdy, all ready assembled, and nice deep drawers.
