This is my first time purchasing dumbbells and after comparing several options I decided on this Signature Fitness Premium Rubber Encased Hex Dumbbell Set and I am very happy I did! Delivery was super fast, less than 24 hours after ordering! Items were packed very well and arrived in perfect condition. I ordered the 60lb set with (2) 5lb, (2) 10lb and (2) 15lb dumbells. I really liked other options that came with a rack however for the price, this was definitely worth sacrificing a rack for the set. The quality is excellent and I really like the black with the chrome grip handles, they look great and are very easy to handle. They do have a rubbery smell but its not that bad and I imagine it will fade over time. (Just smells like a gym to me). I plan to purchase some heavier dumbbells eventually and will look out for this brand then as well. But for now, I'm just getting started on my fitness journey and this is a perfect starter set size. They weights wrapped separately and very good quality . They had a rubbery smell to them but I suppose with them being new that is common. The grip is great for people who have been to gyms with weights like these. Would definitely recommend!

Was nervous to purchase since many weights show reviews with grease or oil on them. Though, I imagine that may be a protective coating. There was no residue on mine at arrival. I ordered 10.15.20 lb set. It has rubber coating on each weight.

I know some reviews mentioned the grease and smell and it does come that way but if you've bought weights before- most do to maintain the weights material. I use these 4-5 times a week and they're great quality! I'm very happy I purchased these and plan on getting some heavier ones for more of a variety. I use gloves when working out so I can't speak on the grip of the weights but I don't have a problem with them. I would recommend these to all my fitness friends and family.. they are so worth the money!! ... show more

    • Fumes don’t seem to go away
After more than 2 months, these are still off gassing and smell badly and don’t seem safe for me to have to breathe in while working out pregnant. I feel like I wasted money.
