Arrived on time and workers placed the box right here. Unboxed and checked everything, looks good, well protected, found two pouches of screws, zero instructions. Cant be too hard! Right? Well, like others have pointed out, the holes don’t exactly align right because the wicker wrapped around the frame throws everything off alignment. So, after trial and error on the first one which took three hours, the second one went pretty fast, only an hour. Here are my suggestions: First, lube all the screws and screw them all in and out all the holes in the frame. That will loosen everything up and make it easier later. I placed the chair on its front on the deck and aligned the back onto the base. It’s tight, you have to be careful how you wedge it in without tearing the wicker. Start with the bottom two corner screws. Those are the easiest to align and get started, then you can pivot the back to align the two top side screws. Once those four are in place loosely, look and see how far off the bottom two screw holes are aligned, or not, most likely. I screwed in the left two (corner and upper) screws all the way and that pulled the back over so the bottom two holes more closely aligned. I got one threaded in but there was no way the last one was going in place. So, I got my drill out and a 1/2” bit and drilled out the hole larger. That gave me just enough room to get the screw started. Then I tightened everything down. I did the second one the same way but before I even started, I drilled out the two bottom holes on the back first cause I knew they were going to be an issue. Sure enough, had I not drilled them out I wouldn’t have been able to start those two last screws. I think everyone is a little different, slightly out of whack and the wicker wrapped around the frame interferes with everything aligning. They should make the holes bigger and use larger washers, in my opinion. But other than that, we really like them. I ordered the Monterey Garrison covers too, even though of the mixed reviews and we’ll see how long they last here in dusty, hot central California. ... show more

I felt obligated to write a review after reading all the horror stories of assembly. The reviews actually caused me to wait to purchase, but found nothing remotely as attractive as these chairs… so I ordered… fully planning on a monstrosity of an assembly process.. I set aside an entire Saturday to assemble them when they arrived. There are only 6 screws that need to be screwed in for the chairs to be fully assembled… that’s it Both were completely assembled in 20 minutes. Was not a problem.. So why are people comparing so much? My guess is they are VERY novice assemblers and have never once attempted to assemble anything from IKEA which is 10000% more difficult. All you have to do is NOT TIGHTEN THE SCREWS at first… get all screws started, THEN TIGHTEN. That way, you have wiggle room with the back of the chair if there is “play” with the untightened screw. If you tighten it down hard at first, you’ll swear the holes don’t line up since there is no moveabikity since you’ve locked it in place. Honestly, this is 1 out of 10 difficulty and was (still am) the amount of people saying the assembly was a beast. And the chairs are beautiful and comfortable… could not be happier ... show more

Was looking for great quality, oversized chairs for my giant sized husband. These are perfect. The only negative, was they were a pain to put together. Just 6 little bolts, but they are in the most awkward places. It was tricky getting the back on just right to line up the holes. *Pro tip, do not tighten all of the screws until they are all in. Second chair was a little easier. Wish there were matching ottomans, but I think I found some that won’t clash too much. ... show more

We bought these chairs even after reading the reviews about how hard they were to assemble. My oldest son tried to assemble. No luck. My husband tried to assemble. Complete frustration. They sat in my garage for weeks. I thought back to all the reviews who mentioned how awful assembly was do to mismatched holes and those were the same problems we had. Fast forward to last night another family member hears of our issues. Reads the instructions "do not tighten all bolts until you have seeded each screw.. then tighten" (Im paraphrasing). We had the chairs together in minutes after doing this! We bought 4 and literally was so easy. 6 screws each chair. The biggest issues was tighten the screw as they were installed thus making the alignment of other screws off. Who knew instructions helped so much lol. Dont tell my hubby I told ya how this played out. Ps writing this review as I sit on our new comfy chairs!!! ... show more

These are great chairs! I have seen them for a lot more money, so the price is good too. A rubber mallet makes lining up the screw holes easy. Didn’t have an issue with misalignment. Packed well and were in perfect shape!

I stalked these chairs for a month before purchasing, to get the best possible price. I was obsessed..I could tell they were beautiful from the photos, and they are even more so in person. But, of course, there’s a however….the arms arrived with small scratches, mainly along the edge. I took my handy furniture scratch markers and colored them in, because I figured it would be a nightmare to return these. The box is huge. And both chairs were in this huge box, so how would I handle that? Anyway, yes they’re beautiful, sturdy, directions are crazy confusing, but one chair took my husband less than an hour to figure out.
