Description

Two state-of-the-art technologies packaged in one small device - The Dual Function Circuit Breaker combines GFCI and AFCI, protecting against both Arc Faults and Ground Faults. This, along with the new Self Test & Lockout feature, makes it the first in class in electrical safety for homeowners. The 2014 National Electrical Code (NEC) now requires both Arc Fault and Ground Fault protection on kitchen and laundry circuits. Before the release of Dual Function Circuit Breakers, the only option to comply with this code was to pair an AFCI circuit breaker with a GFCI receptacle. The Dual Function Circuit breaker combines these two devices into one solution that provides both cost savings and less hassle in installation and maintenance. This is a win solution for everyone. A device that tests itself - Testing GFCIs and AFCIs on a monthly basis is a good idea that is sometimes forgotten. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) suggests that AFCI/GFCI devices be tested every 30 days after installation to ensure they are properly working. Now the new Self Test & Lockout feature enables the Dual Function Circuit Breaker to automatically and continuously test itself to ensure that it is working properly. If it is detected that the device has been compromised, the device trips itself and locks out the homeowner from resetting the device, reducing the possibility of the homeowner incorrectly assuming that the device was tripped to prevent a ground/arc fault. This effortless system guarantees that only the best protection is given to your home at all times.

  • Fantastic breaker - Easy replacement for Murray breakers
Size: 20-Amp Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
Perfect replacement for my Murray circuit breakers. They work flawlessly and I upgraded 2 of these breakers (4 total) from AFCI to dual feature in about 10 minutes -- and given that I'm not an electrician, this was pretty easy. I tested both with the test button and an AFCI/GFCI testing tool on the receptacles and it was great. They are about the same size, so easily fit in the breaker box. It's only been about 30 hours since installing, but the breaker hasn't tripped, so I'm very happy. Note: It's important for safety: If you are installing these in a subpanel, make sure that your ground wires and your neutral wires do not go to the same bar in the panel -- it's very dangerous! Grounds go to one, neutrals (pigtails) go to the other! ... show more

  • Solves new AFCI and GFCI requirements
Size: 20-Amp Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
Depending on where you live, the inspector can be very strict on what types of outlets that must be installed on remodel work. I had several outlets that the inspector said needed AFCI protection and because they were within 6 feet of a sink also needed GFCI protection. He recommended using an AFCI breaker then adding tamper proof GFCI outlets. This setup can get expensive real quick. Fortunately I found these dual purpose breakers that provide both AFCI and GFCI protection on the entire circuit making installation easier and cheaper than the inspectors recommendation. I have installed several of these and have had no nuisance tripping issues so far. I did not install one on the fridge circuit as I've heard too many horror stories of unnoticed tripping and the food going bad. No problems on the microwave, computers and their UPS back ups, vacuum, or anything I have plugged in so far. The one issue I had was no fault of the breaker. It requires the neutral of the circuit to be screwed into the breaker itself. On two circuits the neutral was too short and couldn't reach the breaker and I did not wish to rearrange the breakers to get them closer. I found "Spliceline Orange (20pcs)" by Ideal here on Amazon that solved the issue. Simply strip about half an inch on the neutral extension wire and push into the connector. They are UL listed for use inside panels and electrical boxes. If I find anything that does trip these breakers, I will update my review. ... show more

  • Siemens Q120DF Dual (AFCI/GFCI)
Size: 20-Amp Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
If you have a Siemens Load Center (Circuit Breaker Box), you need this. This breaker protects both against Arc Flash and Ground Fault. The Arc Flash protects again bad wiring/connections that may arc protecting the house. The Ground Fault protects circuit outlets and switches that are near water and protects the person. Better than having a GFCI outlet since this is in the Load Center panel and out of site. And no buttons to reset(possibly with wet hands). Your outlet can now be a standard looking outlet. In my house they originally wired in the ugly GFCI outlets for around the kitchen. I took them out and used this kind of breaker. Wife likes the new look and so do I. Plus, now I have dual protection by taking out the standard breaker that was in the Load Center. Yes, it took some time to change the bathroom and kitchen circuits, but I am now safer with having added this dual function with arc flash and ground fault protection . Additionally, there was a counter light switch and that didn't have any protections. I took out the standard breaker and put this dual function breaker on that circuit, too, since I was concerned my wife might flip the counter lights on or off with wet hands. I can't replace the love of my life. ... show more

  • No nuisance trips, easy to install for those familiar with electrical work
Size: 20-Amp Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
Siemens Q120DF 20-Amp I got this to add a basement circuit to my panel where I wanted both GFCI Class A, and CAFCI protection (AFCI is required, GFCI was optional by code). After reading a lot about AFCI in general (nothing specific to the Siemens brand) I was worried about nuisance tripping. Did I mention AFCI is required by code now? I had my main panel replaced a couple years ago with the intent to rewire my home, I picked a Siemens panel mainly due to the availability of these breakers at the time, and the relatively low number of complaints regarding Siemens gear. So far so good, this breaker has been installed and in use for about 2 weeks now and I've run a dyson vac, my desktop computer and assorted gear, a dremel multi-max, a shop-vac, the room light, and a few other items off this branch and there have not been any trips. I'll update if anything happens, but overall I'm pleased. The best part is that this was only $10 more (at the time) than the CAFCI breaker, add in one quality GFCI outlet and you are paying about the same If you are comfortable working with electricity great, if not then hire a pro. Update, April 2019 Still no problems with this breaker and I've added more. It tripped because one of our recessed lights was intermittently arcing on the housing. It was an exercise in frustration trying to find the problem. Still recommend these 4 years later. ... show more

  • Like-for Like Replacement
Size: 20-Amp Style: Breaker Pattern Name: Cardboard Packaging
I had a 1 year old Q120DF 20 Amp in place that tripped below 20 Amps. This is a like-for-like model. It came with like new appearance. It was easy to install, trip tested successfully and has worked without tripping below 20 Amps.
