Description

Square D by Schneider Electric homeline 20 amp 1-pole plug-on neutral dual function circuit breaker is a space and labor saving device, engineered to meet prevailing national electric code requirements. This device combines two critical technologies; combination arc fault protection and ground fault protection (class a), in a single, easy-to-install device. The national electric code now requires both combination arc fault and ground fault protection on all 1-pole, 15 amp and 20 amp kitchen and laundry circuits. Prior to the release of this new device, a contractor or homeowner's only choice would have been to use a combination arc fault circuit breaker in conjunction with an expensive, bulky ground fault receptacle. The new dual function circuit breakers help reduce cost and eliminate the hassle of using two separate devices to provide this essential protection. It's a win for contractors and homeowners alike. Designed for reliability, the homeline plug- on neutral dual function circuit breaker connects directly to the neutral bar, providing a time and labor-saving installation. Several advantages from the plug-on neutral design are fewer connections which lead to faster installation and an innovative neutral clip eliminates pigtails which in turn frees gutter space. Like all square d cafi circuit breakers, it is integrated with time saver diagnostics, a unique feature that provides additional circuit information and minimizes troubleshooting at the touch of a button. • A good investment for any kitchen remodel.
Size: No Size Style: Circuit Breaker
These moderately expensive new breakers that are essentially a requirement in your kitchen if you don't want to those ugly GFCI plugs messing up your kitchen decor. After installing it in your breaker box, you are free to use the inexpensive duplex outlets available in dozens of colors on all the outlets connected to this circuit. Moreover, the total cost for the circuit ends up being about the same as having an older ~$6 breakers with four or five GFCI outlets. By using this circuit breaker it provides both Combination Arc (CAFI) and Ground Fault (GFCI) protection . In water prone areas both are required by the 2017 version of the National Electrical Code. Also the plug on neutral feature allowed by the newer Homeline boxes is nice time saver when installing these. Simply screw both white and black wires into the breaker and click them in. No pigtails required like the GFCIs for pre-plug on neutral boxes. ... show more

  • Easy to Install
Size: No Size Style: Circuit Breaker
These are easy to install in compatible electrical panels and provide protection for the entire circuit. I removed three plug-style GFCIs from inside the house by adding this to the circuit. This not only improves the look of the outlet in the home, but it consolidate’s the electrical controls in the panel. These are solid breakers a work exactly as expected. I have not experienced any nuisance tripping (which was a problem in the past with Siemens’ breakers) ... show more

  • Circuit Protection
Size: No Size Style: Circuit Breaker
Circuit protection can be done in a variety of ways. While breakers provide over-current potection and GFCs provide grounding protection, they only protect what is downstream of the protection. This breaker adds ground fault and arc protection for the entire circuit. I have used this to protect ungrounded circuits in older houses. ... show more

  • So far so good
Size: No Size Style: Circuit Breaker
I just updated the braker panel on our old house in rural Arkansas. I still have to run a dedicated ground, I couldn't believe that whoever did the electrical, only run two phases and a neutral. My first disconnect is bonded, so to make sure everything is like I know it has to, I went ahead and spent the whole day installing this panel along with a bunch of Quare D Plug-on neutral CAFCI-GFCI breakers. It is 100 percent better than what I had. I now have spare to grow. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • May have already saved me from a fire or more
Size: No Size Style: Circuit Breaker
I bought these for a remodel, even though my professional electrician was going to install standard breakers. I wanted these breakers because of code. I had already tested all the circuits with a pigtail GFCI and they were all working. Once these Dual Function breakers were installed, one of the circuits tripped and would not hold. Turns out that one of the wires had a short between the common and the ground that had not affected the GFCI. It is anybody's guess whether this would have caused a fire or injury in the future, but it made a believer out of me. After reading a lot about these I was concerned about nuisance tripping. I have had 11 circuits powered through these for a couple of weeks with no problem. One of the circuits has two fan/light double switches with LED indicators, which are supposed to be a problem, but these breakers have not shown a single nuisance trip on any of the circuits, including other ones with hairdryers, and loads of LED lights. Highly recommended for peace of mind. Also, these are all date stamped as manufactured within the last couple of months. ... show more
