We use these on the boat. The handle is perfect. Other handles are plastic and make a clinking sound as the boat moves, this one does not and is so durable. The size is perfect to keep stuff in on the boat without taking too much space.

I bought one originally to coil up a heavy duty extension cord, this is my preferred way to store, move, and use extension cords because if you coil it right you can plug the end into the outlet, coil the rest on top of the cord which pins the pigtail to the outlet in place. Then you can uncoil only us much as you need. I discovered these buckets are great for containing snow chains for my trucks, so I buy a bucket per pair of snow chains now too for each truck. Do you ever try to fill a bucket with water over the side of your boat. Usually to wash away fish guts, dropped sandwiches or spilled beverages. water being approximately 8 lbs. per gallon using a 5 gallon bucket even if you fill it with just 4 gallons would be 32 lbs. and a full 5 gallons would be 40 lbs,. To say the least an unmanageable weight for most people! So purchasing a 3.5 gallon bucket makes more sense. I would like to say small boat need small buckets but as most people know cleaning any boat from megayacht to a bay boat the key is to change your wash water frequently. So a smaller bucket makes much more sense in the savings of cleaning (soap) products. Can't speak to longevity but these seem to be made by bucket people!! You purchase a multi tool from Leatherman and you buy a bucket from "Bucket people". ... show more

was looking for something a little more than a standard bucket for my boat. this fit the bill and the handle is great. only used for a few weeks, but i see it lasting a long while. I put it under my seat of my center console and use it to hold bowlines and a couple bumpers while we are out. keeps them out of the way but close enough to grab. the rope handle is heavy duty and i like it better than a metal one that may rub or mark up the boat. use it for soap to wash up at the end of the days as well. overall its a good size for the boat and heavier than a standard bucket. would buy again ... show more

In the Question and Answer section, the company states that this 3 1/2 gallon bucket will fit a standard lid that will fit the average 5 gallon bucket. Well, the lip of this bucket is thicker than a standard 5 gallon bucket and not all lids will fit. I tried multiple lids and found that only some fit ok. Also, I have a lid, made by PLANO, that holds my fishing tackle that snaps perfectly on to a standard 5 gallon bucket that will not fit this bucket whatsoever. This is a very sturdy bucket and the rope handle is awesome. For the right application this is a great bucket....I am returning the one I purchased. ... show more
