  • Awesome boat!!
Style: Seahawk 2
I've owned this inflatable boat for almost 10 months now and have used it a handful of times. I've put a friend, me, and a backpack filled with food and water on it (which may have been 400 to 500 pounds); I've had just me on it, and it's handled all of it well. Having two people on the boat does require one person to sit with their legs crossed in order for both people to fit comfortable, and if you're taller than six foot then both people would have to have their legs crossed in order to be comfortable. I have a total of ten or so hours using this boat, and I intend to put more hours on it, but it's easily worth the money. I've taken it on a small lake in Illinois and a few lakes in Arkansas, and it was a joy to use every time. I've beached it onto small islands a few times and carried it across them, and it handled that well too. I would get a better pump then the one the kit comes with, a cheap bike pump makes inflating this take a few minutes versus the ten or so minutes it takes with the one this comes with; I got one at a thrift store for a few dollars and it made using this much better. The oars work fine and you can treat them a little roughly in order to go faster or maneuver tighter, but stronger oars would make going faster better; If you only intend to row at a manageable speed then the oars it comes with are good for that, even if you have two people in the boat. Overall I would recommend this to someone who wants a basic inflatable row boat in order to get out on the water and have some fun; if you want to go fishing or do anything extremely strenuous another boat may be a better choice, but for the price point this one handles great and out performs what I expected it to handle. It is not comparable to a kayak so do not expect to get a kayak's worth of performance out of this. It's easy to throw in the back of any car and get out on the water pretty fast and have a lot of fun. ... show more

  • Heavy duty and easy to carry.
Style: Seahawk 2
I have not had a chance to try the raft out yet. It is heavy duty but easy to carry. I like the color. Paddles seem light weight. I hope they last a while.

To be honest, I thought this thing would have ended up at the bottom of the Miami river a week after I got it, collecting Manatee feces. So far so good and its been nearly four months. Full disclosure: I've only used it five times, but have yet to be be disappointed in its performance, or fearful for my safety or the integrity of my non-waterproof electronic items. So, it floats: bottom line. And it managed to support the weight of my brother and I, two fishing poles, tackle box, six pack, bluetooth speaker, life vests (just in case) and a bag of beef jerky, at midnight on a Friday.Total weight must've been 350+ and we were out on the water for at least an hour. It was not comfortable: two full grown, 6 foot tall men plus gear and beer in this thing is a stretch, no- a limit. But what else would we be doing at midnight on a boozy Friday night, but testing limits? But it worked. Speaking of stretching, I had fully inflated and floated the raft 2-3 times solo prior to attempting the dual-man endeavor because I have read that new plastic inflatable items tend to stretch after one or two uses and I wanted to make sure this raft had settled into its form before testing it's weight capacity. That said, I also deflate, rinse and fold the raft after each use in attempt to preserve the life of the item: salt water eats through fiberglass boat hulls over time, what do you think it would do to this? Subsequently, I'm not sure what gauge of plastic this is, but I know it is not sea worthy, nor is it recommended for open water navigation. A friend of mine has a different model Intex raft, thicker gauge plastic, that we use in the Biscayne Bay to picnic on nearby islands on the weekends, but I would not use this model for that adventure. This boat is perfectly suited for the brackish, slow moving waters of the Miami and Little Rivers. Last weekend (July 2015), I took the raft down the Little River to the mouth of the Biscayne Bay by the 79th St. Causeway and came upon two dolphins just cruising by, unaffected by my or the other motorized boats presence. That was cool. Speaking of fish, just kidding, I know dolphins are mammals, I bring my fishing poles everytime I take the boat out, but I never expect to catch anything. I bought some lures that were recommended to me by local fisherman, but I am not a fisherman. I am a paddler-floater-drinker-sun bather-caster-man. If I caught something, I'd immediately release it. And then stop casting. It's not an ethical thing, or an inexperience thing, but I would much rather watch the playful and gracious manatee nuzzle the free floating buoys not firmly secured to the hull of water-docked sailboats and mini-yachts tethered along the waterway, than drag a stringer full of fish behind my boat. (however, depending on the tides, time of day and year, different live baits are preferable to lures...at least that's what I've been told) But, the Seahawk 2 does have 2 elevated receptacles for fishing poles and a removable plastic satchel that attaches to the interior of the craft for additional supplies, if necessary. All in all, the product is as advertised and worth the Ulysses I spent on it. Not the James Joyce Ulysses, but the 18th President of the United States Ulysses. Speaking of Joyce, I still haven't figured out if I'm a Daedalus, or a Bloom. Hopefully neither... ... show more
