I have recently purchased the second one of these motor / transom saver supports. They are a workhorse for what they are and do last a few years. They are a sacrificial piece of equipment for you boat, so do not think the purchase is for a lifetime. I will explain. The roads are rough and the boat and trailer do bounce a lot while on the roadway. I use my boat way more than the average boat owner during the course of the year, so it spends a significant time in transit to a fishing hole. The portion of the square tubing that extends is able to have a length set with a pin. The weight of the motor, combined with the rough roads, will cause compression on these two pieces of metal. Over time, the metal will begin to mushroom from the weight of the motor. I believe this to be normal wear and tear, which will require replacement after a couple of years of constant use. Consider it the cost of fishing versus replacing a transom that slowly develops hairline cracks that get worse. In my case, I have an Alumicraft with all welded construction. Because of this, it is easy to fix and weld any issues as they come up over time. In all, it is easy to use and does what it was designed to do. Just know that you will be replacing it over time. I am sure the manufacturer is going to love the honesty of this review. Happy fishing!

Less than 5 months old, only live a few miles from the lake all paved, with the common minor road bumps nothing crazy and has already broke. Have only taken the boat out maybe 6 or 7 times this year.

This will hold smaller size outboards securely while the boat is on the trailer, and take the shock-loads of the motor bumping around off the transom. This is particularly important on jon boats, which have thinner transoms that can de easily damaged by motors bouncing around on them while being trailered. You might have to get creative with fabricating a way to attach it to the trailer, especially on trailers that carry the boat farther back on the trailer.

All was good, easy to set up and use. Very sturdy. Problem was the U shape attachment that goes on the roller doesn't come with a strap. While traveling, the bouncing of the motor released the U from the roller and came loose. When it hit the ground, it force my lower unit up breaking the main tilt piston from the pin. Now I have several hundred dollars on repairs. 😢
