I tried the Elgato but it glitched out every now and then…I tried another one…but this was the best one for me. The bass is a little strong but easily fixed in post production, using Audacity or iMovie. I did change out the foam windscreen (the one that comes with it is too large and falls off) but other than that it’s been great. I paired it with an Elgato low-profile arm and I’m very happy.

Shure v7 is a great mic for PC--pretty much your only option for super quality podcasting mic directly to USB with no finical audio device pass throughs the boom it comes with is mid at best--I don't need the non-removable thick dangly wire (I just use the USB) and the boom's range of motion and grip are very awkward recommend buying the mic separately and acquire a different, better boom arm to go with it

Really fabulous mic. If you're looking to upgrade the audio quality on your podcast, this is the one to buy. Be sure to tweak the audio settings on the app. The defaults are very conservative. You'll probably want more compression & limiting than on the default. I've been in radio all my life & the Shure SM7 was one of my favorites. This is basically the same mic, with a preamp & USB a/d converter built in. Totally professional sound.
