Short version: this JIANBENKJ 38" shower curb does the job faster than building a mud curb. It feels like concrete thanks to the cementitious shell, and will make waterproofing between floor and shower more straightforward. Compared with a Schluter Kerdi-Board curb, it’s cheaper. * Shell feels like fiber-cement; core is XPS foam with fiberglass mesh—light to carry (about 7 lb) and solid to the touch. * Per my measurements (see photos), 5 3/4" x 4.5" x 38 1/16" (slightly different than stated dimensions of: 38" L × 6" W × 4.5" H) Trade-offs: the top isn’t pre-pitched; add a slight inward slope (about 1⁄8" per foot) with thinset when you set tile. Because the core is foam, through-fastening (screws for glass clamps, etc.) is a potential leak path, so be sure to fully seal penetrations. Value & who it’s for: at about $50, it’s a time-saver for DIYers and pros who want predictable geometry without mixing mud or cutting block. In my case the curb is for water retention in an open entry/walk in shower plan, so I don't plan to add any hardware to the curb itself. If you need a ready-to-tile curb that’s trimmable and light, buy this. If you prefer the absolute rigidity of a masonry curb or plan to anchor heavy door clamps with screws, skip to a solid-surface base or mud curb.     • Very easy to work with and lightweight enough to make it an easy choice for future work.

Used this curb as part of a shower remodel recently. We trimmed it outdoors with a hacksaw to prevent material from going everywhere, and I was pleased with how easily I was able to shape it. Once secured to the floor with some appropriate adhesive, we covered it in the exposed dimensions with the orange water-impermeable fabric shower liner (I don't want to use brand names...). Using an unmodified thinset worked very well, and we achieved a perfect bond between the fabric liner and the curb. Overall, super easy to work with. It was easy to cut, it's lightweight, it's not going to warp or rot if there's a failure at some point, and it readily accepted adhesives. No complaints, it just worked well all around. I needed to install a shower curb for the walk-in shower, and I found this prefabricated waterproof shower curb. This is exactly what I needed to finish up this shower project. The product comes ready to install and ready to tile. The build of the curb is solid. The 38-inch38-inch height is perfect for stepping in and out of the shower. It is fabricated using layers of durable materials, including cement mortar, fiberglass cement mesh, another layer of cement mortar, and a layer of EPS (extruded polystyrene). The curb comes ready to cut, so it can be easily customized to fit your specific shower dimensions. Once tiled, this prefabricated curb is indistinguishable from a built-in one. Now, I can hang this heavy shower door properly. The curb is made to be sturdy and durable. After some use, I feel very confident about the structural integrity of this product. This is not something that will just fall apart. I have even stood on top of the curb with all of my body weight, and it felt extremely durable. The price point on this product is an excellent value for the cost. Comparing it to other prefabricated shower curbs, there are definitely savings to be had here. I ordered this for part of a bathroom remodel. At tis price it is much better than most others. It worked well with a Schluter system. The contractor was impressed with the quality. It is solid, well made and easy to cut and use to complete the walk in shower.

This prefab shower curb is excellent. With the first touch you can tell that it is a very rigid foam enclosed in an 1/8 inch layer of concrete. The curb is strong and it can easily bear the weight of people. It is an excellent base for installing a curb in your shower. It is very well-made and quite rigid. It is accurate to the listed measurement of 38 inches (actually slightly over) and 6 inches and 4.5 inches. Of course it can be cut shorter if needed. ... show more

This prefabricated shower curb was a breeze to install. We have done multiple shower pans and usually build the shower curb from scratch. This made it so much easier to build the curb. With the piece being water proof, it will not rot like wood would do and is easier to work with versus blocks. It is also trimmable and easy to trim to your desired length. I ordered this as a way to contain water in my roll in shower, if the angle pitch ever fails. It is being in stalled near the front of the shower. It's really affordable, my tiler is installing it, and he says it's an easy installation. The quality is solid, and evident when you touch it.
