I was looking for a shovel to replace my old foldable shovel, and always seems to close on fingers. I wanted something compact mainly for helping with dog presents in camp and occasionally digging a fire hole. It feels like studying, but I wouldn’t do heavy digging with it, mainly because if I am going to a large dig, I will get a larger shovel. The next thing is a pro and a con. For my kids to play dig, I like that it doesn’t fold like the one its replacing. But I also dislike this feature for digging a campfire pit, it’s a shovel only. Where the one I am replacing with it could be used as an over sized hoe. I am sure this will stand up to my normal use for the near future. And will update it if it doesn’t but for me it’s a light camping shovel.

Very nice shovel for gardening or for a small lawn job. The shovel itself is pretty wide and can dig up a lot of dirt. I wouldn't recommend it for big/long time work, cause it's a short handle so you'll be breaking your back. But for small jobs, or just digging a quick hole, this will do the job. It's pretty compact and easy to disassemble if you need to stow it away. It's all metal aside from the connectors and handle, but it's a pretty solid build.

While I haven't used this yet, I'll give my first impressions. It has some weight and heft to it that gives the impression it will stand up to at least moderate use. The two pieces are keyed so that, when screwed together, the handle will not twist under stress of shoveling. The spade is pretty solid and thick, but the truth will come out once it hits its first rock in the soil. The handle fits the hand easily enough and should help with digging with a short handle - much better than a straight handle. Overall, this is a nice tool to take hiking, collecting trees in the wild, camping, or to tuck in the car trunk as a "just in case" tool. I would have liked seeing a way to attach the two pieces together to avoid losing track of one or to make packing them together easier.

I am just in from digging in garden a bit with it. Its ok, its thick enough gauge steel and tempered enough that it doesnt flex. The handle feels sturdy. I think most people will be happy enough with it. Could it be improved, sure... Solid socket shovels are stronger than open socket shovels. And those that are forge welded with solid socket rather than arc welded are stronger yet, but if you can find one, it will cost a fortune. Like say this is plenty stiff enough for anything anybody buying it is likely to use it for. Be nice if it had something to put it in to stow in the car. Oh and if people cant tell, the D-handle is plastic as is the lower part of handle that goes down into the shovel head. To take it apart can require bit effort, after you unscrew the top part of handle it still can take bit persuasion to separate top from bottom.

I got this because the side of my house needed to be leveled out and it turned out to have lots of rocks and pieces of cement everywhere so the hand trowel we wer using broke. This shovel is perfect! It’s gets right in the dirt and is big enough to get the rocks up as well. It came in two pieces and all I had to do was screw it together. Seems very sturdy and is exactly what I wanted. Perfect handheld size not too small and not too big
