Description

The ShoulderDolly gives you a hand in moving the heavy stuff--and reduces back, arm, and hand strain. This 2-person system was designed by a professional mover to ease the burden of lifting heavy and bulky objects. The kit contains two harnesses and one 12' long x 5" wide lifting strap. To lift an object, both people will slip the harness over their head, place the lifting strap under the object, squat to adjust the webbing for differences in their heights and the weight of the object, then stand up! The ShoulderDolly encourages safe lifting techniques and reduces the risk of injury. Eliminates damage caused by hand trucks and traditional dollies--no more marring walls, floors, doors, or furniture. The ShoulderDolly lifting system makes lifting big/bulky/heavy items easier! By using natural leverage, the ShoulderDolly Lifting System allows two people to maintain proper upright posture while lifting any heavy object. The ShoulderDolly works in conjunction with the muscle groups in your legs and shoulders. The sturdy harness fits comfortably over your shoulders and by using your legs, the ShoulderDolly significantly decreases strain and the risk of injury to your lower back, hands, biceps and forearms. It’s a proven way to move big bulky items, safely, easily and more efficiently than a moving dolly. The recommended carrying capacity is up to 800 lbs, however, that is subject to the lifters ability. Each set weighs 4 lbs. One ShoulderDolly set includes everything you need for two people.

  • Pretty Slick Setup For Moving Heavy Objects.
Size: 1 Pack
OK, keep in mind grandma and grandpa aren't going to be packing a new refrigerator into the kitchen after hitting a sale at their local Home Depot! Yes they allow two people to move some pretty heavy items, but ponder for a moment how stove up you might get after hoisting 4-500 pounds worth of "Whatever" to "Wherever" in your home! If you're ambitious, of sound mind and in good physical shape, then by all means strap these babies on and go for the gold! We purchased these to move a refrigerator from our kitchen, down two steps and out to our van. This was a father/son move, and dad ain't no spring chicken so there was some moaning, groaning and a few stops before reaching the van. We got the job done, but it felt pretty much like I was backpacking half a refrigerator. There's a slight learning curve when actually lifting and walking, but you figure it out pretty quickly knowing you still have to maneuver around a few things and then get out the front door and down the steps. We had to stop and adjust the straps to get down the steps because the lift is somewhat higher and you're paying more attention to keeping your balance while navigating each step. Following a brief rest and final readjustment of the straps we made the short hike to the van and loaded it in. When I woke up and saw my wife and son leaning over me in my hospital bed sobbing uncontrollably, I knew something went horribly wrong...KIDDING!!! The straps work as advertised. You can lift some pretty heavy items and maneuverability is far more flexible than an appliance dolly. Navigating steps can get a little hairy, and I'm not sure I would trust myself to try and carry a refrigerator up and especially not down a full flight of stairs. The person on the lower portion of the lift could get seriously injured if the weight shifted uncontrollably or the upper lifter couldn't hold their portion of the load. Some basic common sense needs to be implemented when attempting to move any heavy object, whether its on a dolly or utilizing this strap system. The components are all made very well and they are quite wide so stabilizing the load with some help of your hands is intuitive. Manuverability is also very good, so getting in and out of tight places or around other objects is fairly easy. Overall the process is straight forward and you are literally up and moving in a matter of minutes. The only caution I would make is to not make a lift if you have any back, neck or leg issues because all three become the human frame that both lifts and supports whatever weight you're trying to move. This is a pretty slick way to move heavy objects and about the cost of your time and money to rent an appliance dolly for a day with the bonus of owning the kit for any future moving for yourself, friends or family members. I would recommend this item as a great alternative to using dollies for moving heavy items into, out of or around the home. ... show more

  • Don't be alarmed about Amazon's warning of high return rate
Size: 1 Pack
These Shoulder Dolly Moving Straps are incredibly effective, safe and worth the money. I have used the Forearm Forklift moving straps and they are not simple to use and take a lot of arm strength. I have a $300 Magliner Aluminum Hand Truck with the additional $80 stair climber kit and it is incredible if you only have one person but that requires considerable strength with heavy loads. With two people, the Shoulder Dolly Moving Straps are faster and less risk of injury to yourself and the furniture than most other methods. People are returning these straps, not because they didn't work; but, because they worked and now they feel they have no more need for them. Buy them. Keep them. You WILL use them again...promise. ... show more

  • It's missing shoulder strap length adjustability
Size: 1 Pack
I got these to move a bunch of appliances and furniture when I moved recently into a new place. The straps worked well as advertised, and they allowed my wifey who's 5' 3" and ~105 lbs to stably lift and move objects that she normally wouldn't be able to. The straps were sturdy and long enough to move a variety of stuff such as our 55" TV stand, a bunch of bookshelves and storage cabinets of various sizes, refrigerators, ovens, tables, etc. I'm not giving this product the full 5 stars because of two bad design aspects. One, the straps don't come with any mechanism to adjust and lock the position of the shoulder straps. I resorted to using zip ties to fix the shoulder and back straps in place. Second, there is no padding on the shoulder straps. With that said, these moving straps were super useful and helpful during our move. I give them a solid 4-Star rating. ... show more

  • LIFE CHANGING FOR MOVING APPLIANCES
Size: 1 Pack
We are moving from GA to FL and the only thing that concerned me was moving my washer and dryer from upstairs, into a uhaul and then back upstairs again at the new house. When we first had our washer/dryer installed from LG, the technicians used shoulder straps so I knew, I HAVE to try these out instead of a dolly. And WOW! It is life changing. It's so easy to use and the straps are very durable and high quality. It made it SOOOO easy to move our washer dryer set. GET SHOULDER STRAPS. TRUST ME ... show more

  • Works so far, but needs improvement and better instructions
Size: 1 Pack
We were able to use this product successfully to move a heavy TV set. When we first got the TV, we moved it "by hand" and one of us got a bad muscle strain when the TV started slipping out of our grasp. This time, with the Shoulder Dolly, we were able to move it across a room, out a door, down four steps, and set it on the ground, without much trouble. Sounds great, right? The problem is, the main carrying strap -- the big 5" wide one that passes underneath the big object -- was too long. To perform our move, we had to fold that strap over and pass it through one of the two harnesses at double thickness. It worked, but it is NOT described in the manual. Instead, the manual suggests that you contact the company to BUY MORE STRAPS of differing lengths if you face the situation we did. Gee, that's helpful advice to get when you open the package ready to perform a move. And where in this product listing does it mention the need for extra straps? Nowhere. The strap included in this "Light Duty" kit is 12 feet long. If you follow the directions, you'll feed that strap once through each shoulder harness, and it will be gripped in place. And it does work like that. But any excess will just hang down toward the ground. If you and your partner only need six feet of strap to pick up an object at an appropriate height, you will have three feet at each end dangling down. Who needs a big cloth strap around one's legs and feet, risking a trip? By the way, I don't think you should worry about the size of this thing unless you're really small or really huge. Our lifting team is average in size, and the harnesses on us looked pretty much like they do in the photos here (and in the manual). The manual spends a huge amount of time explaining how to put the harness on your body -- which is pretty much a no-brainer -- but not much time explaining how to position your feet, or how best to raise and lower an item vertically. So the good news is that the "Shoulder Dolly" will indeed help to move a heavy object while not putting a lot of strain on wrists, elbows and arms. Also, IF you plan ahead with the precise length of the strap, and the height off the ground to which an object has to move (and where it starts), you can move it vertically without much trouble, too. But it's not self-explanatory, and it takes a lot of thinking to get something that starts out 30" off the ground, carry it laterally, then deposit it directly on the ground. The instructions seem to think that all your moving will be picking objects up from the ground and putting them back down at the same height. Also Note: the Product Description here says "Heavy lifting capacity: Up to 400 lbs." and "Helps you lift objects that you cannot lift comfortably on your own." Well, the "400 pounds" refers the weight rating of the fabric strapping! It does not give YOU a 400 pound "lifting capacity!" Right in the manual it says that the product does NOT increase your own inherent lifting ability. So don't expect to lift 400 pound objects if you can't bear that much weight on your back, or by any other form of lifting. The TV we carried weighed way less than that. So we knew we could lift it -- we just knew that it would be bulky and awkward because of its size and shape. That's what this thing is good for. If you keep that in mind, you can make a better decision about the purchase. It does not give you any more strength, and it does not provide any means for balancing the object being moved. You do have to use your hands for that. PRO: I'm glad we got it, since we accomplished our immediate goal, and we might be able to use the Shoulder Dolly for other tasks in the future. The product seems well made, it does have safety tags and warnings in the manual, so the manufacturer does seem safety-conscious. CONS: We had to ignore the instructions in order to use the product, which I hate doing, and I did not like the sneaky marketing of accessory products (like different length straps). My lifting partner was bothered by the lack of padding in the harness straps. I didn't notice it in this one-time move, but in a bigger move with more trips, I might. They could include pads without having to bump the price, seems to me. ... show more
