  • For the money, it's the best you can find.
Style: 10' X 20' Autoshelter Pattern Name: Garage and AutoShelter
I've had this for roughly 6 months now; so far it's survived the winter. I live in the mountains in New Mexico; it gets windy here. Like stupid windy. There are times when it'll blow at 40 mph for hours, and not in a steady way, more of in a gusty, damn-I -wish-I-wore-a-hat-because-my-hair's-in-my-mouth kind of way. And this thing has held up to that. So bam, 5 stars. Is it perfect? Meh, no, and here's why: - It's starting to develop a rip in the canvas from chaffing on one of the support bar bolts that sticks out a bit. - It was missing one pole when it arrived. - It is not the most rigid thing ever and moves around when it's windy. The tubing is pretty thin wall and the connections are about two steps above jank. So why 5 stars? Well, because: - I contacted the manufacturer about the pole and they sent a replacement quickly. Not overnight, but 2 day shipping style. - It has stood up to a serious amount of wind and not ripped up. - It's stood up to a few decent snow loads. Maybe 1' or so at most at a time. It sags a bit, but it holds. - It was pretty cheap, especially compared to the other stuff out there (even Costco). The problem with Costco is they don't always have the damn shelter... - You can get a replacement canvas. Some other notes: - I staked each post with one stake into asphalt. There are three holes, but the spacing was such that it would severely weaken the asphalt to drive more than one in so close to each other. - On the back I tied 2 33" tires/rims to the frame to help hold it down. I have no idea if they're necessary, but they don't hurt. - I have a 1970 Buick LeSabre parked in this shelter - it's a 20' long, 8' wide car and there is still room on the front and back of the shelter even with the tires in the back. Not a ton of room, but enough to squeeze through. - The twist in guy lines were useless for me. It's sitting on a corner bit of asphalt - so there's not many options for guy lines. The back and one side could potentially use guy lines, but there are several issues. First, there's no external way to hook up rope, which is kind of dumb. Next, the twist in stakes they provide are not good for any form or rocky soil. Perhaps if you have midwestern mud or some sandy loam, you'll be ok, but they were useless for me. All in all, I'd say it's worth it so far. I'll update if anything gets bitched. ... show more

  • It's easier if you use two people to set this up.
Style: 10' X 15' Autoshelter Pattern Name: Garage and AutoShelter
This does what it's supposed to do and looks nice when it's together. Keeps my 09 pontiac g6 out of the weather; my car is 1 foot longer than the structure, but I'm still able to zip up the door without hesitation and I have plenty of room. I've been in the party rental business for 20 years and never set something like this up, but this isn't very big so I assembled it myself and althoug it wasn't physically hard, but an extra set of hands would have been very useful. It took several hours to set up and none of the parts were separated. I spent over an hour separating the dozens of parts as well as dozens of bolts that were in one bag in which had three sizes that looked identical. Some of the pictures in the instructions were misleading and without written instructions along with the pictures it was frustrating trying to figure out what they were showing you. I ended up finding a video online to follow which made putting the material on the frame move along much smoother. The material itself is about the thickness of a standard camping tent and wasn't very heavy. Use a small step ladder, crescent wrench and or socket wrench for assembly and be careful when tightening because the metal isn't very thick and will bend where the bolts go if you over tighten. The ratchets for the material are pretty flimsy, but they do the job. I didn't secure this to the ground the way the directions said. I used separate ropes to attach the 4 anchors to. I then put the anchors in the four corners on the inside as the direction showed, but I tied the separate rope to the top crossbar to the anchor so the upper part of the frame has more support in strong winds. As added support I pounded 2- 24" steel stakes on the outside of the tent (very close and one on each side in the middle of the structure) just below the bottom crossbars of the frame and attached a separate rope from the crossbar to the stake and then pounded the stake down a little farther to tighten. I did it that way because I didn't want the stakes inside the tent and because since it is all enclosed there is no way to stick a rope out from the top crossbar of the tent to the outside. The flaps that are on the bottom of the tent allowed me to place a rope at that point without having to readjust anything. You can tie a rope from the upper cross bars to a stake on the inside too, but that's not how I did it. Tweak it anyway you want. I've had this for two weeks and we've had some windy days. I live close to lake Michigan and so far it's held up just fine so all in all... I'm satisfied ... show more

I’ve purchased two of these and they are well made. Assembly flows easily if you follow the instructions. Shelterlogic customer service is very helpful if needed!
