This soap is a must have. Non drying or non itchy. No residue. Pleasant smelling. t’s a requested soap to have on hand in my home and panic starts when we run out. I now reorder when there is one left. The bars are heavy and big and last long. Used daily.

A fan of the scent, and how it feels on my skin. This soap lathers well on a standard shower pouf, and I think a great value. It does not overly dry, or cause dryness, and it has not caused any sort of reactions to my skin. I like Shea Moisture products in general, but the bar soap is my favorite.

    • I did this one backwards

I'm a man who tends to have thought about everything that I do, so it should come as no surprise that I have criteria and a method for buying bar soap. The first step is price - I usually look for the cheapest bar that there is. Then I look for scent. I like scented bars, and the scents that I like are determined by completely subjective criteria that might well shift from time to time. However, having once settled in on a type of soap (and I do prefer bars over say, body wash), I will tend to stick with it forever until it disappears from the store shelves - which has happened to me more than once. So it was a complete surprise to my wife when I bought this product, because I completely flipped my two-step method of buying soap. That might not seem like a big deal, but when a method only has two steps, I would suggest that doing them in reverse order is a big deal. Especially when the first step is price, and I just might have a reputation in the family for being a frugal (OK - maybe even cheap) guy. This soap I bought on the promise of scent alone - I didn't even consider the price - which was way outside of my typical range. I wanted the scent of this bar so bad that I didn't even mind how much it cost. And unless you breathe air that is more rarified than mine, you have to admit that this is a pretty pricey bar. I started looking for this particular bar because my sister had gifted me a bottle of lotion of the same scent made by this same company - and I fell in love with the scent of that lotion. However, the scent of the lotion tended to wear off as the day wore on (no surprise there), and I was hoping to find other products of this same scent that I could layer, and perhaps extend the time that the scent lasted. I was hoping for a cologne (no bueno), or an deodorant (nada), but did find this soap. After mentally stressing about the price for a few minutes, I took the plunge and placed the order. The soap is an 8 ounce bar. Okay, it clearly says that in the description, but it didn't register with me that 8 ounces is a huge bar. I cut them in half before I use them, just to make it a little more manageable, even though that tends to make the resultant half-bar kind of like a cube - which is also an awkward shape. Not a big deal. Being a glycerin-based "soap" (technically not soap at all, I guess), this bar erodes away a bit faster than I anticipated. Each half-bar (4 ounces) lasts me about one week, whereas my former 3.7 ounce bar would last about 10 days (yes, I'm an engineer. I actually track stuff like that. I track everything. It's a curse). So that hits me a bit in my frugality bone. Okay, I bought this bar because of the scent. How does that stack up? The scent is nice. But, even though it is ostensibly the same scent as the lotion - it isn't quite. I get that the same scent might not be quite the same scent when delivered in two different products, but the scent of the soap seems even more different from the scent of the lotion than would be anticipated by the difference in product types. So, I probably will not be placing any return orders. The price of the bar was too high and the scent of the bar was too different for the balance between the two to reside within my continuing-purchase zone. But that's just me. There's plenty of other things to like about this soap, and you undoubtably have criteria that are different than mine. It's got all those fair-trade, organic-type credentials. It rinses off cleanly. It wasn't tested on animals. Maybe some of those things put it into your wheelhouse. But I only had two criteria. ... show more

Makes your skin sooo sooo soft. I don't use on my face. I use the African black soap Shea moisture on my face. This makes you the absolute softest. I have given up all the body washes in the stores. No dove. Nothing else but this. No bath and body works. This soap makes my daughter so soft as well
