  • SHARPIE-1, "SKERPIE"-0
Just when you thought it was safe to buy a sharpie at your local store you end up with a "Skerpie". Whaaat? I was so confused when it dried up at lightening speed and then just stopped working altogether. This is not my personal photograph attached (it's a reddit .jpg by "portablebiscuit", mine got thrown out in a fit of frustration, but I still wanted to show you what I was dealing with). This is a prime example of why I love amazon, you at least know you're getting the real deal! The difference between these markers is night and day, while the packaging and labeling may look virtually identical, buying a Sharpie off of Amazon means that you won't be left searching for a crayon to label your moving box full of dog toys. It doesn't sound like a big deal, they're just markers, but at the end of the day it is a common item that you just need to work. These are the fine point variety which I like because it makes my handwriting clearer and can double as a correction pen when someone needs to see your notes over writing. It's also good for clear food and container labeling. PROS: Lasts A Long Time, Inexpensive, Trusted Brand, Not A "Skerpie" CONS: It's An Add-on Item So It Needs To Be Ordered Along With A Larger Order For Prime TIPS: Apparently There Are A Number Of Sharpie Fakes Out There (weird?) So Read That Cursive Carefully! :) ... show more

  • The standard that works great
This is the standard for permanent ink markers. It is what all others are measured against. It outperforms most of its competition and right now the price is as cheap per marker as I can find without buying a bunch of off brand markers at once. I'm using these to write plant names on garden markers right now. The black outperforms many of the other colors that sharpie produces in terms of water proofness. All sharpies are waterproof but some do bleed more than others. If you have ever used markers on clothing, you will know that sharpies are the least likely to bleed. The fine point of this marker is great for many purposes. It is a really good sized line to fit in tight places and still being readable from a distance. ... show more

  • Color my head with it.
I use these Sharpie markers to color in the alopecia areata spots on my brunette head. Just move the long hair out of the way, and smear this on the fleshy spots. Works well for spots up to 3/4 inch; I have found that spots larger than that size tend to color in poorly and appear like somebody used magic marker on my head. I have tried eyebrow pencils and Marks-A-Lot brand, but both of those run in rainstorms. I have streaks of black like ruined mascara down my neck when I have hit a downpour with those products. The Sharpie, conversely, stays in place and doesn't ruin my neck or my clothes. When you first put this on, smudge it around with a paper towel; it has a working time of approximately thirty seconds, after which it cannot be blended on your skin. If I have a particularly nasty outbreak of "pecia", as we call it, I will have my wife apply to the back of my squash because there are so many spots that I cannot see them well by holding a mirror to the back of my head. I will note that there is a faint odor of magic marker from this product for about the first hour or so after one applies it to their head skin. If there are plans for a dinner party, unless you want the hosts to think that you were wearing an advertising sandwich board all day, you might want to apply the Sharpie long before you leave the house. When I sweat, the marker does get slightly mobile. What do I mean? If I lay back on a pillow, it will stain the pillow. This is particularly important, once again, at the dinner party. You will want to avoid high backed, upholstered chairs. Finally, I have never had a lack of hair re-growth from the toxicity of this product on my head. Seems as those the nascent hairs, typically white in color, do not mind the daily bath of Sharpie. I have not experienced yet any ill effects such as loss of memory or dulled ability for computations, but I will update this review should that occur (and I remember to update it). ... show more
