I've been using this a lot lately and it's been great. I'm not sure if the 1000 grit is actually that fine, but it definitely gets my chisels sharp. The base stays put, the plate is easy to flip, it's easy to clean and the chisel clamp roller guide works great on a variety of of my chisels even my curved dado one! The locking nut is large enough and has a rough enough texture it's easy to get it tight and to loosen with ease. The only thing I wonder is how deep the diamond dust is on the plate, but so far so good after about 150-200 passes on the 400 grit side and about 75 on the 1,000 side.

I’ve had a positive initial experience with this sharpener. I tested it on an old set of Craftsman chisels, and it worked surprisingly well. It was able to remove small nicks from the edges and restore them to a good, working profile. The process was straightforward, and the results were impressive, giving the chisels a much sharper edge for use. I’m looking forward to using it on other tools, but so far, it’s proven to be a handy and effective sharpening tool. I do have doubts on the longevity of the stone.

I wish the adjustment knob had a screwdriver slot to really lock it in. I like the wide wheel it makes it very stable. The wheel rolls very smoothly. The set up guide could be better it is just a peace of paper with markings for different depths for different angle. It could be laminated to help protect it and give it some rigidity.

If I knew all of the rules and specs of sharpening chisels and plane blades, this tool would be all I ever need to keep my blades sharp. However, even with my limited knowledge of the angle degrees, etc, I'm able to keep a pretty good clean edge simply referencing one of my unused chisels. The plane blade will need more rescuing than I or this tool can give... The true star of this package deal is the honing guide! If anything, buy it for that. A few minor concerns overall: 1. It comes with a paper referencing guide for finding the correct angle positing in the guide. I cut it out and taped it to a piece of wood to give it more sturdiness. Not ideal but it works if you're a frugal person. 2. With the smaller chisels, they can come out of alignment on the honing guide rather easily with moving the guide back and forth on the stone. There isn't a locking mechanism to keep it in place after tightening the sides, so the knob tends to loosen. Only a problem with smaller chisels, though. Just be sure you are consistently checking it for square after every few passes. 3. Lastly... and maybe most importantly? The diamond stone is not actually a diamond stone. It's an aluminum plate with diamond textured thin adhesives stuck on both sides. After several months of use (maybe 2x/month?), both sides seem to have worn down making the sharpening time much longer. However, during the break in period and little while after, those adhesives worked like a dream!!
