Finding shapewear that actually supports you without feeling miserable halfway through the day can be weirdly hard, especially when your body has changed in ways you didn’t expect. I’ve been dealing with PCOS and after going on birth control my weight jumped fast. I used to wear a size 00 in jeans and now I’m around a 12. I work in construction and lift regularly, so I carry a lot of muscle and weigh more than I look (about 175 at 5’2), but the lower stomach area has been the one thing that refuses to budge no matter how consistent I am with workouts and a calorie deficit. I ordered this faja in a medium and honestly… it surprised me in the best way. The material is silky and soft instead of scratchy, and it’s breathable enough that I can wear it for long shifts or under everyday clothes. There’s one row of hook-and-eye loops plus a zipper, which makes getting into it way easier than fighting with super tight pull-on shapewear. Once it’s on, everything feels secure and smooth. My favorite detail might be the bathroom access. The crotch buttons mean I don’t have to peel the whole thing off, which is a lifesaver when you’re out or at work. The compression in the stomach gives me a flat, supported look while the buttock cups actually let your shape show instead of smashing it down. With this on, I can comfortably fit into a size 8 in jeans, which feels huge for my confidence. If you have an apron belly, you know how scary certain outfits can feel. This makes dresses, high-waisted pants, and even tighter tops look way more put together. The seams feel strong, the zipper is sturdy, and after multiple wears it still snaps back into shape. It doesn’t feel cheap at all, and for the boost it gives me physically and emotionally, it’s absolutely worth the money. If your midsection is the stubborn area like mine, this is one of those pieces that helps you feel like yourself in clothes again.

I finally listened to my sister and sized down in shapewear, going from a Large to a Small, and I chose this one. It is tight, but not suffocating tight. There was a bit of a struggle pulling it up at first, but thanks to the large opening, it really wasn’t that bad. I was also worried about being able to close it on my own, but that turned out to be a non-issue—I was able to hook it and zip it up without any trouble. Overall, it sits nicely in the buttocks area and offers strong compression, especially around the waist, providing serious tummy control. There are three levels of hooks at the bottom, so you can adjust the fit. The back has some ruching but doesn’t dig in between the cheeks. The fabric in the buttocks area is thinner than the rest, which helps shape it nicely. The waistband is about four inches thick and includes the vertical boning commonly found in corsets. Unworn, the waistband measures around 24 inches. Bottom line: if you want moderate compression, size down once. If you can truly handle very tight compression, you could size down twice. For reference, I’m 5'4", 162 lbs, with a 35-inch waist, 39-inch bust, and 39.5-inch hips. It’s made of polyester and elastane and is hand-wash only.

Another awesome product from SHAPELLX! I’ve tried a few of their pieces now, and they really don’t disappoint when it comes to quality. The material feels thick, durable, and high-end — and the compression is definitely there. This is true high-compression shapewear that actually slims you out and gives a super flattering shape. I love that this one doesn’t have straps. It makes it so much easier for bathroom breaks, which is a huge plus compared to full bodysuits. The wide, thick waistband is a total game changer — no rolling down at all, and it stays put while still being surprisingly comfortable. It’s true to size in my opinion, but just know it’s strong compression (which I personally love). My only small wish is that the panty portion was more of a lace short style. I carry more in my bottom, and with certain pants you can kind of see the panty lines. Overall though, this piece really delivers — high quality, high compression, super flattering, and comfortable enough to wear for hours. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for serious smoothing and shaping

While the material feels nice and like it's made of quality (really, it does), I just feel like I'm wearing an extra layer of clothing - it may smooth over any bumps you have, but it doesn't do much to suck it in tight - and yes, it is tight enough on me to know. I ordered a medium because I'm normally a small (2-4), but when it comes to shapewear, small is too small usually. Still, I can feel the "structure" of this medium, but it doesn't do much. The material over the cheeks is just material - it doesn't do anything to lift. Actually, I think this piece would be better without that cheek material. It doesn't do anything, isn't super flattering, and is just extra material to deal with in your pants. Shapewear is a true investment and for $53.99, I just don't feel like I'm getting the value I'm looking for in shapewear which works and will last. There's currently a coupon for $45.89, but even at that price, I don't feel I'd be getting what I really wanted out of this piece.

I ordered a small. I did measurements before and after wearing it. It decreased the waist by a half inch for me - from 27 to 26.5. The hips stayed the same and it did give a firm feeling to the rear. I like the sturdy design, it’s exquisitely crafted. I do have a critique around the boning, since it’s plastic, I’m not sure it helps keep everything in place; and it was visible under a bodycon dress. It’s also more bulky under a bodycon dress, so the silhouette was better without it.
