They do totally hold upsidedown and on the side of a car or whatnot.. just wish the magnet was stronger as rattling may drop a bolt due to awkward shape. The silicone could also be a bit thicker to avoid calapsing when you reach in.

This set of collapsible magnetic parts trays are handy and nice to have. I like that they come in different colors so that if you need to use multiples on one project, it might come in handy to differentiate. I like that they are collapsible. Most of the time I've used them in their collapsed state because I didn't need to capture a bunch of parts and the parts remain more visible and easy to grab. At currently around a fiver each, buying this four pack is decent value for money. I've always needed more magnetic trays no matter how many I have. On the subject of visibility, my one ask from this product (and others nearly exactly like it) is that the bottom be a different color than black. Many parts are dark or non-reflective and depending on light conditions, they are a bit harder for these aging (sigh) eyes to see. I cut a little white paper square for each tray that has a slight oversize interference fit with the bottom to line them and it has helped. As far as strength, these use a decent...'sheet magnet'...of the material that's been around for a long time. They are strong enough to stick to a vertical surface and hold small items in that orientation but larger items or less magnetic metals might be tricky... as long as you respect their 'limitations' these little bowls are great. At the moment several other offerings appear to be of similar price. I feel like when it comes time to shop, you could probably go off price per unit for whatever quantity is on offer and vote with your wallet. If the magnet were stronger, these puppies would earn that fifth star from me. In any case they have been great, it's a neat concept and I'm happy to have them in my craft/light duty workspaces. ~Cheers! PS: I've seen a few other products lately from the brand: Shall. I'm keeping my eye on them. They appear to have "heart." Many companies that entered a space as an unknown eventually become a top tier player ("Lucky Goldstar" anyone?). After using under my vehicle, they are SUPER helpful!! Magnet is strong enough to hold screws upside down on the vehicle, while still working as a parts try when right side up, also coming with 4 makes it easier to differentiate parts between areas of your vehicle. Overall, super awesome buy!!

This review is for the SHALL Collapsible Magnetic Parts Tray Set. This product includes four collapsible, stackable magnetic parts trays. The trays are made of a highly flexible silicon material which is, of course, not magnetic. Only the bottom of the tray (the square portion with the "SHALL" logo on it) is actually magnetic. The magnets don't necessarily feel super strong, but the tray sticks securely to the side of a steel toolbox, and the trays can hold a large number of small metal objects securely. If you shake the tray hard enough or drop it, some of the objects will likely come loose, but otherwise they tend to stay put. The fact that the trays are collapsible and stackable makes it easy to store them in a toolbox without taking up too much room. ... show more
