When we installed our new sinks, all I could think of was the scratches that would be left on the stainless steel by dishes rubbing against it. We put a lot of work into our kitchen and I want it to last. I went to Walmart and found some clear sink mats and that was a mistake. They stained very quickly and looked disgusting. And they were flat and didn’t let air pass through and got moldy very easily. The lack of airflow also let caused mold to build up around the drains. I came to Amazon and found these. They had the hole already cut in the right place for my drains. They are black, which matches my kitchen. And they are lifted by little nubs on the bottom allowing the water to drain and dry completely from the sink. No stains, no mold, no scratches and a perfect fit. Exactly what I was looking for. Very happy with this purchase.

Hello out there in Amazon Land. This is the second try with a silicone sink liner. This one is really nice. It is flexible, pretty, neutral gray in color, and has nubs on the back to help keep it in place in the sink. I purchased one similar to this a while back and got the hole in the center. It did not work on my kitchen sink, where I thought the hole was centered, but it really was more to the top of the bowl. I am now using it in another sink, where the hole is truly centered, and it's working out great. So, I decided I would try another liner with the hole at the top. This one still is off set. I'm not sure just why my sink is not lining up. Oh well. I have kept it and I use it. It is easy to roll up and put away in between dishes, so why not? I feel it works to help keep dishes from chipping and breaking. (I will update with some photos soon. Having technical issues right now. )

I've had several sink mats, and until now the same problem always occurs. They get discolored and I can't seem to get them to look clean. Part of the problem is they are a clear or almost clear material (if silicone) or white, off-white, yellow, or green (if hard plastic). So a black one seemed like a great idea. And it has turned out that way. But it's not just that stains don't show, it's that they don't happen (I looked closely with a bright light). One reason for the stain problem is most mats lie nearly flat. They might have some little bumps or ridges on the bottom, but they tend to sit in water that contains staining agents like beet juice or whatever else you might rinse off. The SHAIINKOOW Silicone Kitchen Sink Mat has "points" that are about 6X the length of the bumps of my old mat. This allows proper drainage. Another issue is these mats tend to have tiny round holes that are impossible to scrub, so you end up with red and orange crescents where all the holes are even if you labor with a toothbrush to try to clean them. This mat has hexagonal holes of reasonable size, so they can be easily cleaned. It even comes with a scrubber made from the same soft material, which also means no scratching of the material to leave pockets for bacteria. The one thing I don't like is the drain hole. That feature is on all options, so if you like the drain hole this is not a drawback for you. The mat fits my sink perfectly, but no configuration offered will line up the hole with the drain. I also don't want the drain exposed like that. When I pour beans of the colander, for example, I have been using the sink mat to keep them from going down the drain. One solution to that is I can simply start using the sink stopper (set to the draining configuration) and all will be well. This will also make up for the larger grid size that I like so much (because it can be cleaned). In short, this was designed to protect the bottom of the sink not to serve as a strainer that also collects stains and bacteria. This looks so nice in my sink. The other mats I have used over the years have always been embarrassing to look at after a week or so. I've had this longer than a week, and it still looks unused despite heavy use.

First of all, this particular matt was too small for our sink and it was the only one available. However, judging how it would work if it went edge to edge it appears it would be highly effective. Obviously, it gives full access to the drain with the hole in the correct place. While this one slides around because it is small, I'm sure the correct size would stay in place. Made from silicone it won't scratch but will protect your stainless-steel finish from pots while you scrub them. And if you drop a glass or piece of china while handling, it is less likely to break when landing on the soft matt. There may even be other uses for this matt, being food safe and bacteria resistant. One issue I’m interested in is other sizes, because the next available size up is actually too large for my sink, which is standard. Perhaps they could make one that could be cut to size and still have the drain centered and finished edging? Just a thought. Overall, a decent product.
