Top Amazon Reviews

  • I hope the larger adventurers will read this.
I researched for days prior to ordering this Kayak and I am so thankful I took the plunge and purchased it. My goal in writing this review is not just to tell you what I experienced with my new kayak but to encourage anyone that is struggling with their size not to let it keep you from getting out there. I am 5 8' 320 pounds give or take and I am trying my best to get out and be active. I loathe the gym and I am trying to find things that I can do. I have always been athletic but due to injuries from working out being the size I am has made adventures quite challenging and sometimes painful. But here's the skinny on my maiden voyage. My kayak arrived 2 days after order and I had a planned to head to the lake with a friend to try it out immediately. I inflated it in my home because I did not want any surprises happening on the lake. I ordered new paddles before my kayak arrived because of so many other reviewers reporting how crappy the ones are that come with the kayak and I must agree on that point. It was easy and quick to inflate but I have yet to figure out the back pack which also is the back support, The kayak fully inflated is very light and easy to transfer from the car to the lake area. There was a boat launch where we were which was nice. I decided to straddle the kayak to sit down into it as recommended by another reviewer, it wasn't pretty but it worked. I realize that the boat is made to hold up to 400 pounds but it did sag in the middle some and my bottom was wet the entire time but I didn't care because I was finally able to kayak!! It takes a while to balance and paddle at the same time as it does not track as well as a hard shell kayak but I got into a great rhythm and figured out how far to place the paddles in the water to maintain my stride and balance. The friend I was with had a hard shell kayak and I kept up with her perfectly. The back support is not much of a support but to me it was comfortable because I liked sitting back while I paddled. The top and back came up slightly out of the water and there was a small crease where I sat on the kayak but to be honest I didn't really care what I looked like I just wanted to be out on the water. The material was very durable and we were out when it was in the 90's. My dog laid comfortably on my leg as I paddled and her nails were no problem at all. My first voyage was over 2 hours and I loved every minute of it and I can't wait to get back out there. So all in all I am giving this kayak 5 stars. It's an inexpensive alternative and it worked well for me. ... show more

  • Amazing Kayak
I can not say enough good things about this Kayak. It is so easy to blow up and I found it to be very steady on the water. The material is super durable and the back seat really does provide support for your back. I am 5'3 and found it to be the perfect size for me. I think it would be good for anyone under 6 ft. I am also on the heavier side over 200lbs and the boat completely did not sink at all with me on it. I think for the cost of this kayak you can not go wrong. It really does pack up nicely and you can carry it like a backpack just like the picture shows. ... show more

  • 5 Stars for the value.
Nice looking Kayak and will get even better looking when I add my black accessories. Super stable, used it myself at 190 pounds and used it together with my daughter at 80 pounds. So it holds 270 pounds with no problem, so I believe the 400 pound max rating. Everyone complains about the paddle, but I think they are fine for this Kayak and nice they included it. I like how light weight the paddle is. I do not need to break down the paddle, so I plan on putting cement glue on the threads for a permanent paddle that does not fall apart. Tracking on this Kayak is horrible, meaning with every stroke of paddle it turns side to side, which means it is ultra maneuverable. I will use it like this for now and if it becomes a problem, I will try to make a balance between tracking and maneuverability. If necessary I will be adding a normal size skeg or two. It does have 2 very small skegs front and back that barely stick out 2", which I was pleasantly surprised it had because no where in photos or description did it show this. They just need to be bigger and I believe it will make this Kayak even better. My thoughts are to marine cement glue something to the existing skegs to make them bigger if that is what I need. The size of this Kayak is actually 38 inches wide, not 36" as shown in the specs. This is even better for stability. Beginners will appreciate the stability of this Kayak. I also appreciated the really nice pump included, it pumps huge volumes of air really fast really easy. I don't know if my air compressor can even beat it. It stays inflated but may tend to just barely soften up after a few days. Plan on topping it off with air before heading out again. Btw I used the included black seat to make a second seat in the front for my daughter. The straps fit inside the front hooks of the front cargo net supports, and I added a strip of industrial strength velcro for the seat area. There you go, a 2 seater for adult and a kid that can hold 400 pounds. You do not really need that seat for the rear adult anyway since there is already a seat built in to the Kayak. I will update this review as needed. Update: A week later and air still holding nicely. I also tried a cushion for the seat, and not recommended. Anything that raises you up will take away from stability. I do not need a seat cushion, it is comfy enough. Update 9/4/2018: This thing is stretching with usage. It was 38" wide when I got it. It is now 40" wide. Oh well, it is even more stable now. Btw Did my skeg modification. The perfect combo is a huge 11"x11" skeg at rear and just leave the normal skeg in front, or if anything in front you can add a 2"x11", the 2" is how much it sticks out. Basically even with the stock skeg. Do not put a large one in front. I tried that and could barely turn. Just a large skeg in rear will do. I cut it out of an old recycle bin. Drilled a hole through it and stock skeg. Secured with a bolt and marine goop. Results: Stock it would go about 1.5 mph tops. With modification I am running 2 to 2.5 mph average. Stability now is out of this world stable. Tracking is similar to a hard shell kayak. Speed now is less slow, which gives me more confidence to go against a wind. Note: I recommend this Kayak only for beginners to find out if you like kayaking. The stretching I bothering me, thinking it will not last very long. Will see. My next buy will likely be a Vibe Maverick which is unsinkable. ... show more
