These work phenomenally well. I once brought a nutty buddy ice cream to work in my cooler. These kept it from melting. Yes the ice cream was soft, but not a melted mess. After 7 hours in a lunch cooler I would call that awesome. I have had some issues with bottled water freezing in the cooler if it's packed between 2 of the ice packs. ... show more

I have purchased this product a few times. I use it when for food at work, when I travel and for family adventures. The ice pack, once frozen keeps the items in small coolers cold. If you have direct contact with the pack then, the items may freeze. If you don't want your items to freeze and just stay cold, put a barrier in between. They stay frozen for over 24 hours.     • Pretty Good, way better than regular ice for hot days!

When I ordered these with the "some assembly required", I was prepared to be really irritated that I had to do the work to save them the money. But what I found was, it was actually fun putting it together and I was afraid of potential leaks, but out of the 5 I ordered (lunch size), all have had no issues whatsoever, which is surprising as I am not the IKEA assembly guy at all. I expected it would fail and it didn't.... not one drop spilled. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 (should really be 4.3 ish) is their claims of 8 hours of "as cold as ice". That may be the case if you are using them at room temp, but I bought them to keep beers cold for a 4-5 hour golf round in 95 degrees and for that, it worked, but was dying after 4 hours and the beer was maybe 40 degrees... I prefer 34-36 degrees. Yes I am a beer prima donna. Skeptical on the 8 hour claim, and that is why I did not give 5 stars. But for what I needed, it worked great!!! Maybe the larger versions were the 8 hour ones. Meh. But these things coming out of a very cold freezer will burn your hands, be very careful! They are so flipping cold! Protect your hands if using a very cold freezer or you may get frostbite. If you doubt the colder than ice claim, put it in a deep freezer and lose a few fingers if you are not careful taking it out... Overall, no issues at all with the lunch size pack of 5. Durable, convenient, and definitely way better than ice, and other non-ice solutions we have used. And for me and my wife the money was well spent for sure. For 5 stars, and this is not just for this product, promise less and deliver a bit more. But this is pretty awesome compared to a lot of other products we have tried. We are considering the larger versions, based on the performance of the smaller items and may update this review based on that. May yet get 5 stars, we will see. 8.8/10 Have recommended to friends and family. Place this in the best triple walled cooler and you may have a cold beer next week... or at least a 40 degree beer.... ... show more

These ice packs are amazing. I put a large size one and small one in a 13x9 insulated cake/casserole carrier and used them to keep deli meat and cheese trays cold during an office party. Worked like a charm! The flaps on the carrier folded back, making it easy for people to serve themselves and I didn't have to worry about how long any of the food sat out.     • Very Good product - EXCELLENT Customer Service!

For months, we received food from Blue Apron and I was always amazed by the gel ice packs they used. They kept everything cold for days and were always frozen when they arrived via UPS. I put them in the freezer and used them again for travel, etc. The only downside was that they were fragile and would spring a leak. Could there be something as good but permanent - something that could be used over and over without leaking? YES there is and this product is it! You put the right amount of water in, squeeze all of the excess air out, put in the stopper, screw on the cap, let it form a gel (20 minutes) and put it in the freezer. It takes a while to completely freeze but it works great once frozen. The Great Customer Service comes in when you mess up and need an extra stopper. I made a request for an extra stopper because too much air was left in a bag and removing the stopper can be destructive. They provided an extra stopper by replacing my bag - over and beyond what was necessary. As I use these for a few more months, I’ll add comments if needed. ... show more
