  • Great buy (based on 1 month of ownership and 6-7 uses)
My wife and I purchased this product to serve as a guest bed when friends and family stay with us. We were looking for something that would be comfortable and easy to use, while also allowing us to take down and store between visits. I'll try to break down our observations based on the things that we were looking for and the other reviews that we read. Shipping: We chose super-saver shipping. The box arrived 6 days after the order was placed. I believe we ordered on a Friday night and it arrived on the following Thursday. No damage to the box or the product. It arrives in a brown cardboard box that is slightly larger than the product itself. Due to the weight, it was slightly awkward but manageable with one person, but an easy lift with two. Ease of use/set-up: the included directions were simple to follow. I had read a few reviews that commented on making sure to unzip the carrying case all of the way before inflation so I made sure to do that. Then it was as simple as plugging in the power cable and turning the switch to inflate. Complete insufflation was accomplished in several minutes with the inflating mattress opening the frame on its own. Once completely inflated, it automatically turned off the inflating mechanism. Noise-wise, it was about the level of an average vacuum cleaner but again, only lasted a few minutes. Comfort: Another common complaint that we read in other reviews was that it was very uncomfortable without putting a mattress topper on it. Based on these reviews, we had already went out and bought a memory-foam topper before it arrived. I can see where those other reviewers are coming from. The mattress top has deep divots between the air cells rather than just a flat surface, so a night of getting caught in those probably would be uncomfortable. With the mattress topper, it was very comfortable. The queen sized sheets from our bed easily fit (I do think we have the extra-deep sheets though). The height of the frame/mattress is also nice. It works out to be around knee to mid-thigh on an average adult, so you aren't rolling out of it to stand or having to climb up to get into it. Durability: We have had my mother stay overnight twice, my wife's cousin stay with us for two nights, and her brother and sister-in-law stay for 3 nights since we purchased this. No massive failures or leaks as some reviews have mentioned. There was minimal air-loss after a night of sleeping that was easily remedied by a few seconds of turning the inflate setting on. When my brother-in-law was visiting, we tried the auto-comfort settings which seemed to do well (no complaints from them at least). We will see how it holds up over the long haul, but in the short-term it has easily justified its cost in terms of hotel nights saved and comfortable place to sleep for guests. Overall: We are very satisfied with this so far. I would echo the recommendation to buy a mattress topper, but otherwise there were no weaknesses to speak of. ... show more

  • Quick set up, comfortable with additional padding
I got this for company to sleep on. I didn't want to buy a normal bed which would take up too much space when not being used. My hope was that this would be reasonable to sleep on and then storable the rest of the year. I believe it has succeeded in this regard so I give it 5 stars. I did purchase an additional pillowtop matress topper more for comfort based on other reviews. I've slept on it myself (6'2 210 lbs) and it was pretty comfortable and I had not problem sleeping through the night. There is a lot more "bounce" than I'm used to from my normal temporpedic matress but doesn't seem much worse than a spring bed but without the annoying springs themselves. My inlaws were the biggest test as they live quite comfortably and I was a bit concerned that it would be incufficent for them but they said it was comfortable and had no issues or problems sleeping on it. The system inflates very quickly and deflates just as quickly. Its super easy to condense it down back into the pack and store it in a closet. While inflated, you can't hear the air regulater at all as it monitores air pressure and adjusts. Like, can't hear it at all with your ear next to it. Perhaps it just holds it air and doesn't need to do anything because there is no sound I've ever heard. My only concern is my cat who is not declawed. He's not alowed in the room with the bed while its inflated in an effort to keep the bed functioning as long as possible. While the bed would be fine with normal jumping up and down with the topper on it I'm pretty sure that any attempt to sharpen his claws on the side of the mattress would destroy it. ... show more

  • Horrible quality, don't waste your money.
We actually bought 2 of these and both were replaced by the company for problems. the ease of use is amazing but,,,,,, after about 7-10 nights of use, both beds developed leaks. the first leak was around the pump/control box. (it became separated) The manufacturer was quick about replacing it. We had company coming and needed one right away so we ordered another bed thinking this leak was a fluke. the second one we bought developed a leak where the legs attach within 7 days. Now I must say that there are no children in the house and these beds were only used for company than came to visit (adults). They were taken down after each visit. Both beds were replaced by the company and the replacements lasted about the same number of nights. So we have spent over $600 and still have beds that leaked after just a few nights. One is leaking around the pump/control box and the other where a leg touches just like the original purchases. I can't believe they don't know there are problems. but apparently don't care to address the weakness in the design, Please, please don't waste your money!!!!!! Good customer service, lousy product. If you choose to buy don't say you weren't warned. ... show more

  • Nicest air mattress - EVER!
This is perfect for company! This is very easy and quick to set up and take back down. I have left it set up for several days in a row with no worries of underinflation thanks to the auto-inflate function that keeps the bed at the same firmness. The top is quite bumpy and you really need to place a memory foam or egg crate foam pad on top so you can't feel the big dips in the bed, but if you do that, it's very comfortable. I used regular queen sized bedding, and it worked just fine, although you can't tuck anything in at the foot of the bed. Made of very sturdy vinyl construction, so it is a bit heavy, but the carrying case has a handle and wheels on one end to make transport pretty easy. Not super-compact, but much easier to store than a traditional bed. Overall, a good investment for the money and a space-saving solution for accomodating overnight guests. ... show more

  • Excellent Hightop Air Mattress
I bought this mattress because I was having knee surgery and could not go up/down stairs for days on end and would find it very difficult to pull myself up from a low-level air mattress...this worked perfectly for my needs and was very easy to set up and take down and put away. Put a pillowtop type mattress pad on top of it which worked great. Used my own sheets/blankets and tucked them in where necessary. It does compress somewhat on the edges when sitting which is what I read, but was not an issue for me even trying to get up with crutches. I am a very heavy woman and had no issues with real compression in any other location. I pumped until I got the desired lay down expansion (which is firm) for me...never once did I hear the pump go on afterward or did the mattress deflate while sleeping. Height is more like couch seating height. Very glad I used it for this purpose, and will have it available should any of my adult relatives/friends need a place to sleep beyond my current empty bedrooms. Will let my grandbabies use the low-level air mattresses I have as I know how tempted kids get with regard to jumping on them. ... show more

  • this is a pretty amazing contraption
For the money, this is a pretty amazing contraption. It's not the same as a plush, solid bed, but we had a houseful of guests during the holidays and needed the extra sleeping space. My brother, who's 6'5" and 200+ lbs, slept on it for about 10 nights and said it was pretty comfortable. We did get a thick mattress pad for it, but even without that it had a nice feel. Set-up and take-down are remarkably easy, and I can store it in a closet when we don't need it. The mattress held its air pressure well for the most part - it got a little less firm after about 5 days, but I turned on the switch to inflate it a little more and it puffed right back up and held its pressure the rest of the visit. Definitely a great option for temporary visitors! ... show more

  • Great, until it starts to fall apart.
Purchased this almost 2 years ago from Amazon. I loved the ease and convenience of this mattress. I have a large family and we often have visitors so I thought it was worth the investment. I was looking for something sturdier than a traditional air mattress and less than a permanent guest bed and I got it. Soon after purchase, I slept on it for a month when I had my son so daddy could get some sleep for work. after that I stowed it away and it was used twice over the next two months for a couple nights each time. Myself and my guests were average build people, the use was light. This mattress was convenient, easy to set up and take down, firm and very comfortable. It has very deep recesses where the "quilting" seals are, I put a thick blanket under the sheet or a padded mattress topper and it was great. Everyone loved it. Then, six months after I bought it, it started to leak. Took me forever to find the first one, which was along a heat seam where a brace connects. I ordered a vinyl patch kit and, voila! Except the next time it was used, two weeks later, another leak appeared, again in a seam. I patched this one too. The next time, a week later, it came up with yet another seam leak and my prior patch started to leak again as it was in a tough spot. I will skip the details and frustration of patching and leave it to your imagination. In less than a year, with light use, the thing was completely unusable. Great. So I started trying to initiate a return under the two year warranty. That was almost a year ago. :-( ... show more

  • With enough extras it works great, but alone it is so uncomfortable you can't sleep on it
Super easy to set up and take down. Was impressed that it does not lose any air and I had it up for several months in the guest room. The only negative is the concaved circles are extremely uncomfortable. As other reviewers have said you need a memory foam topper to go on this bed. It is not usable without the topper. I had a feather bed I planned to use, but it just sunk into the indentions and was no help. I had to buy the topper. I bought a 3" memory foam topper and it is very comfortable and guests have been very happy with it. The problem is I bought the air bed because it folds away in to the wheeled case and is easy to store, but the memory foam topper does not fold up with it. It is very bulky and I have no place to store the foam topper so it defeated the purpose of buying this bed. Also, standard queen sheets are not deep enough to go over the mattress and topper and king sheets are much to large. I am hoping a deep pocket queen sheet will fit, but I now have to buy another set of sheets (that may or may not work) which adds to the overall cost of this bed. The extra cost of the topper and sheets makes it one expensive temporary air bed. ... show more
