Not a hobby grade RC car - think Walmart. My guess is they're riding on the backs of the new Losi Micro-B that's on backorder and price gouging. It is fun - no doubt. Nothing is serviceable, if it breaks, in to the garbage it goes. Kids love to play with it, dog like to chase it. I'd buy a fleet of them if they were $20. Overpriced at $50.

Sure O’d prefer a big name micro/mini 1:24 with real partr and non proprietary ultra tiny battery but they arent available atm. It seems sturdy and it has to be because I cant see fixing it if it breaks. If you get one get the one with two batteries as they don’t last long even slowly bopping around. I looked for a spare battery and with shipping it would have been cheaper to get a second car.

The media could not be loaded. The Mini Spyder is fast, fun and totally worth it! It is stable, jumps great, has a smooth ride and is tough. I think everyone should buy one 100%!

First, I like this car. For the price, it's fun, pretty quick, has proportional controls and has full parts support. It's no Micro-B or Mini-Z Buggy but at a quarter the cost of the Mini-Z Buggy I wouldn't expect it to be, and it is a perfectly good competitor to the Associated 1/28 cars. Serpent is well known in the RC racing industry, but this car under the hood is really just a rebadge of another model available overseas. They have made some minor improvements though and even reduced the price over the original model. The styling of the Serpent is also better. The gyro is also a cool feature, though it works in a very confusing way. The gyro is programmed to invert its reaction when driving in reverse which makes reversing just as stable as forward drive, but for some reason it's programmed to invert in neutral as well, so it tends to spin out if you let off the throttle at speed. It's just a weird little quirk you need to get used to. I actually ended up returning my first Mini Spyder because I thought it was a dud. That's mostly my fault for not figuring it out at first so I won't fault the car, but it's something to note. The turning radius is somewhat poor, which I only really found to be an issue when I tried to run it on a tight Mini-Z course. It gets worse with throttle input because, like any rear heavy, rear wheel drive vehicle, the front gets light under power. I do plan on experimenting with simple ways to help the buggy turn better, such as adding a little weight in the front bumper and reducing the front toe-in. As long as you don't plan to try to race this on a tight track, the steering is perfectly fine. All in all, every complaint I have with this buggy are really just minor nitpicks and stuff I found when using the little thing in unintended ways. Because of that, I'm not docking any stars off my rating. For the price and for what you get, it's a 5 star buggy. I'd be happy buying a couple more and racing them around with friends.
