  • Very COOL unit!
Set name: 8,000 BTU Cooling Only
I am extremely happy with my purchase of the SLPA8 AC unit from Serene Life. It works well cooling my 10x10 office with a builder grade 60 x 48 inch southeast facing window. Last summer it was unbearable here (Seattle) with temperatures reaching 100 deg F. or more for many days. Since installing the AC unit I am able to instantly cool the office when needed. I find that I do not need to run it all the time, only long enough to be comfortable... usually 15 to 20 minutes at a time providing 1 to 2 hours of comfortable conditions. I seldom use the high setting as low is quite cool. The unit is easy to set up although the supplied pvc window louver is too short for my window. I purchased a 60 x 6 x .5 inch piece of lumber and used my jig saw to cut out the necessary opening and attached the louver to the board. I also purchased pvc half inch pipes to use in the window track and middle of window keeping pressure on the window and eliminating risk of unwanted guests or air gap. Last piece of customization was double sided half inch foam tape between the board and window edge really providing a gap free seal. The unit is rated at 57 db and seems a bit loud but not disruptive. I have a noise canceling speaker and am told others on my Zoom calls cant hear the ac when it is running. It takes up a bit of floor space but its worth the trade off. I have no problem with negative air pressure it just a tad bit more of a pull to open my office door. I have had no problems with the water resivoir filling up nor have I had any issues with power or electricity. I do have it running on a 20 amp circuit which is nearly 3x what is required (8 amp draw when cooling on high setting I believe). The supplied remote is small and easy to use.. not a lot of functions or buttons so it tends to be self explanatory. I am very happy I purchased the SLPAC8 and would do so again. Great experience with fast shipping via Amazon and arrived in the original box and packing materials. One last suggestion, don't wait til the dog days of summer (like I did last year) as most options sell out quick. No way I was making the same mistake this year! Very Satisfied thus far (nearly 21 days run time). ... show more

  • Good cooling with some drawbacks
Set name: 8,000 BTU Cooling Only
So far so good with this portable A/C unit. It cools one small bedroom very well, but the cool air does not travel beyond unfortunately. It gets very cold, though! I don't mind the noise, but I don't like how it shuts down the compressor and lowers the fan speed automatically. That's a little disturbing at night. If you have it running very cold, it just runs consistently. The dehumidifying mode does not work very well. The worst part is the remote. It is small, not backlit, and the icons for the different modes are tiny! I have trouble seeing them even with reading glasses and shining a light on it! So, I'm just trying to memorize them or use the touch controls on the unit itself. The one I received is the sleek looking version pictured on this product page rather than the squarer one with the louvers coming out the front. It is a nice-looking machine. The instruction book is another weak point. It is not a translation issue, rather it was written by somebody that is just not a good explainer. It's somewhat hard to understand. The installation went ok. I have a horizontal sliding window that is up a little higher than the average window, but we made it work. I recommend with some reservations. ... show more

  • No adjustments to your window or screen are needed. And there is NO water to drain in cooling mode.
Set name: 8,000 BTU Cooling Only
I love this compact AC. I live in an apartment that has window AC units but nothing in this bedroom. And this is perfect. I had this up and ready to go within 15 Min. There is no water to drain from the unit UNLESS you use the Humidifier mode. The unit is designed to evaporate the water so you never have to worry about draining any water. And the unit being on the carpet and not my property I was concerned about that. But If you DO decide to use the humidifier mode, when the water compartment INSIDE the unit gets full it will show on the display that it's full and the unit will automatically shut off. So if your not home and out all day you don't have to worry about it filling up with water and spilling over etc.. I also like that I did NOT have to remove the screen from the window or cut a hole in it. NO adjustment to your window or to the screen is needed. The window vent kit is adjustable so it EASILY fits various sizes and types of windows. I have the side sliding windows. A soon as I turned it on it made a HUGE difference in the room temperature. And you don't need a lot of space for this Ac unit. You only need approx 2 feet space all around the unit to be clear. I'm so happy I got this. There is nothing you have to put together. Just attach the hose to the back and the other end to the window kit and place the slide in your window and that's it. It's as easy as 1 2 3 ... show more

  • Got this summer handled!! Great AC
Set name: 14,000 BTU Cooling No Wifi
This is amazing at cooling my living room. I exchanged this from a smaller one and honestly it is extremely reliable and portable. The exhaust hose is also shorter so it fits perfectly in the corner of my living room. The one difference I see that for me is a slight downfall is that it doesn’t have WiFi accessibility nor an app where my older one did. Either way this still works better at cooling down and keeping my living space cool. My space is on the smaller size as it was built in the 30’s so the size of this AC is perfect. The other bad part is that it is pretty loud. I have to up the volume on my TV if I sit too close to it but again it is not louder than the older one. If I had a space that was bigger then it wouldn’t matter. I think I will definitely get more value for my money than I expected. ... show more

  • Cools really well in summer heat.
Set name: 8,000 BTU Cooling Only
The unit has been on for 1 day in the beginning of the summer heat and cools the upstairs down really well !! It is no louder than a regular window unit but is mobile and able to be moved as long as the exhaust hose will reach the window. The remote makes it very convenient to control and adjust without getting up. ... show more

  • Greatly Disappointed
Set name: 14,000 BTU Cooling No Wifi
This is a review for SereneLife SLPAC14 Portable Air Conditioner (14,000 BTU). I had a great AC that died recently. So, I did some research to find the ideal AC, however I had the hardest time choosing one due to lack of information on the AC’s listing pages and lack of honest opinions. So, I’m writing this review to help you make the right decision, or rather to save you from making the same mistake I made. In short, this AC is not good. Stay away. Don’t buy. To elaborate more: - Manual is in broken English. Some instructions are hard to understand. - The AC is heavier and larger than an average portable AC. Plus, you need around 20 inches of space around it, and the hose needs to be 35 inches up and away from the floor. Small room? Low window? No good. - Manual states “When the temperature is higher than 40c/104-f, it’s not recommended to use this unit.” Go ahead, buy this AC, but don’t use it when it’s hot outside. Shouldn’t this be in the product description? Shouldn’t one know BEFORE buying? - Wheels are useless. Needs A LOT of effort to move the AC if you have carpets on your floors. Therefore, it’s not truly portable. You can’t easily move it from window to window, and you might need help to get it to the window you want to install it in. Can’t comment on wooden or tile floors. - Manual states “If the machine is shut down in the cooling operation state, it needs to wait for three minutes before it can be turned on automatically”. And that is exactly what it’s been doing. You set it to cool and pick a temperature. When it reaches the set temperature, it turns totally and completely OFF. Three minutes later, it turns on again, then off. Without switching to fan mood in between. Why is this a problem? Well, you know when you first turn on white noise? You notice it at first, then it blends into the background. It drowns out all other annoying noises and helps you sleep, work, study, etc. Even when it’s loud, you don’t notice it until you shut it off. That’s what this AC does. It turns on with a LOUD white noise, then it turns COMPLETELY off. Doesn’t switch to fan mood. Then, a few minutes later, it turns on again. So you are constantly listing to the sound of white noise turning on and off, repeatedly. It gave me a terrible headache within the hour. It wakes me up every single time it turns off, or on. No restful sleep what so ever. I woke up exhausted and grumpy. If you want peaceful, restful sleep, this AC is not for you. - Control Panel: It sings TELALA in a loud, high-pitched voice, announcing itself to my entire building every time I press any button (panel or remote). How do you feel about your AC shouting at you every time you touch its buttons? If someone is sleeping, and you attempt to adjust the settings on this AC, you’ll wake them up. - Remote: Doesn’t sync with the panel on the AC. If you use the panel to turn on the AC and adjust the settings, then you grab the remote to change something. The settings on the panel will suddenly revert to the last settings you choose the last time you used the remote. All the settings you picked on the panel are now changed. Basically, you’ll need to stick to either the remote or the panel at all times and don’t touch the other. Although, if you want to use the temperature in celsius, your only option is the remote. - Window Kit and Hose: The hose is paper thin. So thin it wrinkles and lets in heaps of heat and sunlight. Window kit is just as bad. Thin plastic. Warps when you close the window, leaves tons of gaps, and doesn’t even fit a standard 35”-36" window. You’ll need to shed an extra $50 for a new kit. - Filter: A cheap thin layer of mesh. Never seen AC filter this cheap. Already showing signs of wear and tear and it’s brand new. - Drain Outlet: There is only ONE drain outlet. Positioned at the very bottom of the AC. It’s so low, it’s touching my carpet. No space, not even for the thinnest pan or tray. If there was a second outlet, you could easily open the bottom outlet (water won’t flow yet), hookup a drain hose, then open the top drain outlet, and THAT will cause the water to flow from the bottom drain. But with just ONE outlet, you need a yard, balcony, or other suitable place that allows for draining without a tray or hose. Many people don’t have such options. Also, when the AC tank is full of water, according to the manual, it’ll start beeping. Who’s in for a midnight awakening during a heat wave because the AC is throwing a fit? - Cooling Power: Even though I got the 14,000 BTU, and the temperature outside is only 22-c/72-f, and the room the AC is in is about 350 sq, I’m sweating! Most likely because the AC is not switching to fan mood. It just keeps shutting down every few minutes. Leaving me feeling suffocated with no flowing air or white noise to save me from my noisy neighbours like my previous AC did! Conclusion: The heat is sneaking upon us here in south California. It’s hard to believe how unlucky I got with this AC. Trapped in this terrible situation. Unable to afford another AC, and have no physical strength, transportation, or help to return it. I just want to cry. So upset. Sad beyond words. Do yourself a favor and look into other ACs from other companies. With that, I end my review and hope that it helped you in your search. Best of wishes to you all. ... show more

  • Quiet For Nighttime Use - Window Vent Is Terrible - 3.5 Stars
Set name: 8,000 BTU Cooling Only
We have two portable air conditioners because our house was built in 1949 and even though we have central air that does a fairly decent job of cooling our house, there are areas that get way too hot. The upstairs where my husband's home office is located reaches over 95 degrees on warmer summer days, so we got him a Black and Decker portable air conditioner last year. It is a beast. It is loud, but it also cools fast and efficiently. My husband can set the Black and Decker at 68 degrees and his office is freezing. We needed another portable air conditioner for our bedroom, which is on the main floor of our house because the sensor for the central A/C is on one side of the house and our bedroom is on the opposite side. At night we bake and even in Michigan there are nights when the temperature does not go below 80 degrees, so leaving windows open does not help at all. We wanted an air conditioner that was quieter for sleeping and lighter, so we could possibly move it to my husband's den next door to our bedroom. Also, at the end of the season, carrying the A/Cs downstairs in the basement for storage is much easier if they do not weigh a ton. The SereneLife A/C gets mixed reviews in our house because we are comparing it to the Black and Decker. Here is what we have observed: Remote: SereneLife remote does not have a digital screen, which I never thought would annoy me, but if you are tired and half asleep and just want to quickly adjust the temperature up or down and do not want to physically need to look at the unit, having a remote that tells you what the current temperature is, is SO helpful. The Black and Decker wins here. Also, the SereneLife Remote sometimes just stops responding after a few hours of not pushing buttons, which I noticed can be fixed by pushing the power button (this does not turn the unit off). Window vent: SereneLife needs to throw their entire window vent away and start over. In fact, I would encourage them to call Black and Decker and talk to them about purchasing their window vent design. Black and Decker's window vent is far superior. SereneLife's window vent not only does not fit in my standard size replacement window - one side of the slider is wider than the other, which has required us to fill in the gap with foam strips - but the slider lock does not actually lock in place. Also the vent tube falls out almost constantly and immediately. Temperature control - SereneLife does a good job of keeping our very small bedroom cold at night. We set the temperature at 72 and our bedroom was adequately comfortable for the entire night with the until turning on and off as needed. At one point I think the SereneLife turned to fan from cool by itself for some reason, but I cannot be absolutely sure this happened. The Black and Decker is just as good at keeping the room cold. Noise - SereneLife smashed this. The Black and Decker turns on and off with a quiet nothing, but then when it turns back on there is a loud condenser noise that reaches about 95 dba. It is loud. It woke me up all night long. SereneLife, however, just turned on and did its job with the peak noise at about 70 dba. This is still not quiet by any stretch, but is WAY more tolerable. Cost - Black and Decker costs $299 for 8000 BTU and SereneLife is $249 (both sale prices). Recommendations: Honestly, if you don't care about noise, buy the Black and Decker just for the window vent. If you want this A/C for your bedroom at night, go for the SereneLife and understand that you will need to make some adjustments to the vent in your window to block incoming hot air. ... show more

  • Lasted all summer with no problems.
Set name: 8,000 BTU Cooling Only
Purchased this A/C unit for the hot summer in Arizona in May 2025. This has worked without any problems all summer. Cools a moderate size kitchen and even brings down temp in our living room a little. A little loud, but it is an A/C unit so it's expected. About 57 decibels. Maintains it temp without any issues. Easy to set up and use. Set the timer and walk away or don't use the timer. It's up to you. When humid we had to drain the tank in back of the unit about once ever couple of weeks. My only complaint is the filter provided is kind of cheap. Just be careful when pulling it out. Kind of flimsy. Experienced no leaks at all. Used it straight for 3 months about 3-7 hours a day. It does use electricity like a window a/c so you'll see an increase in your electric bill about 15% if you use as long as I did during the summer. There is no heater. Only fan and A/C capability. Make sure you have a window to vent the exhaust. The exhaust blows out hot air. I do overall recommend this product. ... show more
