I'll start by saying I'm a petite adult female just over 5' tall with a small face. I chose this set because most adult sets are too large for me. Even my prescription eyeglasses are almost always kids frames. I had planned to use this set on vacation last week but the weather was not suitable for snorkeling. I'm going ahead with this review and will edit if necessary after the set has been used. I've got 40+ years of snorkeling experience and scuba certified for 30+ of those years. This set seems comparable to the more expensive sets I've owned over the years. The pros of this set: Mask - tempered glass lens - sturdy frame around the lens - silicone skirt and strap are thick and pliable - strap can be adjusted easily Snorkel - mouthpiece is soft and pliable and a good size, significantly smaller than an adult snorkel and proportional to a child's mouth - snorkel clip slides along tube allowing for easy adjustment for children of different sizes / ages - attachment between snorkel tube and mouthpiece is flexible The only con is that no instructions were included, not even a paper with links to a website with instructions. I think this is very important for first time snorkelers or those with little experience. All masks and snorkels are not the same in size or design and for the best snorkeling experience it's important to understand how to choose the best mask for your face shape, make sure it fits correctly, and choose the type of snorkel best suited to your swimming competency, with a mouthpiece that will be comfortable for an extended time of swimming. Also important is an understanding of how to take care of your gear, especially how to clean a mask, and how to clear a fogged mask while swimming. There are a number of commercial products available which can be applied to a mask lens to help minimize fogging. I've read reviews where the person didn't know that the snorkel needs to be clipped to a mask to hold it in place while snorkeling because this keeps the snorkel tip out of the water while you're face is looking down in the water. Also, if for some reason the mouthpiece comes out of your mouth while in the water, the snorkel will not be lost since it's clipped to the mask. These are just some examples of why following instructions are important when using something new or unfamiliar. For now I can't comment on whether the mask leaks or if the snorkel air valve and purge valve function correctly. I'll amend my review if any problems occur while snorkeling once the opportunity is available. ... show more

We went on a trip with a cheap snorkel set for my 4yo that was uncomfortable and leaked, so it was not a good way to introduce a kid to snorkeling. The second we got back I looked for a new set and was happy to find this. My daughter is much happier trying to snorkel and has since loved using this in the bathtub to find her mermaids and treasures. I can't wait for her to try it on our upcoming trip. We ordered this snorkel/mask combo before our trip to Hawaii. Our daughter, who is 9 and petite, used this at the beach in the water. She was able to use both of the pieces with me underwater for extended periods of time with no issue. My daughter was very excited to get this. In all honesty, it is winter, so she's used it only in the bathtub so far, but she was still excited to have it and has been asking to go to the pool since she got it... she does not seem to understand that most people don't swim when it is cold out. LOL. The mask fits well, and the colors are cute. We did have some trial and error with getting the mask tight enough to not leak, but she gave me the thumbs up when we finally got there. The snorkel is nice and bright pink. It is very flexible, which is probably good, but it feels like it is just going to fall into the water. This feels like a good quality set, the snorkel is strong and pliable, the mask adjustable with a thick strap. There is a mesh carrying bag that looks great for drip-drying. I chose this set as it is one of the few kids snorkels that has a flexible lower portion. But the dry-top mechanism is overbuilt and heavy so causes the snorkel to flop around. I’ve seen lighter dry-top mechanisms on other snorkels so this is just overbuilt.

Really impressed with this. The snorkel and mask are both good quality, and the mask is comfortable on my kids face. Much higher quality that what you'd get at the souvenir shop near the beach. The strap adjustment piece stays in place well. The mesh carrying will also be super handy.
