The customer service at SentrySafe/Masterlock is incredible. I had a small issue with my safe, and they made the situation right. I absolutely recommend this product, or another from the Masterlock/SentrySafe product line, because of their response to my issue alone. The safe is alright. It's nothing to write home about, and that is to be expected at under $100. It is the exact width of a "normal" manila folder, and it would be nice if it was just *slightly* wider. I would like if the lid had some sort of resistance to prevent it from being slammed. I don't have any major issues with it and I don't feel as if I'm going to break anything unless there is a manufacturing defect or I mishandle it. The handle does flex a little if you try to open the safe while it is locked, but it fine with normal use. The key isn't reinforced and will bend if you push on it the wrong way. The gasket might fall off and need to be put back into position before shutting the lid again. Those issues don't worry me now that I've dealt with their customer service department. Very heavy, solid document safe. The inside cavity is the perfect size for regular size hanging files, with good capacity. But be aware, and I am sure it has to do with fireproof capability, the safe is heavy and awkward. I have a small Sentry Safe for storing a little extra cash and a few important documents. I have had this for years and decided I wanted a larger safe. I dont care for ones with complicated dials or buttons. I did not choose this for keeping people out. I am more concerned with just having the contents safe in case of floor or fire. This "document" sized box is what I was looking for. It is probably 2-3x the depth of the small one I linked to. It gives me more wiggle room. There are a couple of things I would change. 1, is to have an indent or handle to be able to move this without fear of slipping out from hand. 2, is to make the front clip more durable (dont use plastic) and easier to snap into place. It takes some assertive strength to make it shut. I dont need to get into it often, but it initially concerned me that I could not get it to close until I really forced it. Includes straps for creating an internal pocket of the sort on underside of lid. A small roller scooter board will help those that need to access this often and have to pull it out to do so. So I am not in love, but I am banking on the Sentry brand name to keep my goodies safe. I will update if anything falls apart. I dont think I would necessarily buy this model again, but I would buy another Sentry. I just dont care for/trust other brands ... show more

I have been paying $106 a year for a safe deposit box at my bank, just for papers. When the bank flooded, people were asked to come get their belongings from those boxes. I took the opportunity to get my own and keep it at home. This is heavy and seems to be air tight. (It will ruin pearls and photos and some kinds of jewelry and watches.) It hasn't been tested yet (no fires or floods), but I think it will protect those papers and also keep them handy in case I need them quickly. ... show more

This simple lock safe is bigger then it looks and is heavy. If you're looking for something solid to protect your documents and other things then this should do the trick! However the lock is very simple and easy to break into. I recommend you don't store money or gold in this. We'll see how it holds up. ... show more
