  • Life changing for the hard of hearing
More than I could’ve hoped for my mom who is hard of hearing and lives in an apartment complex. She can now enjoy her TV without bothering her neighbors. She tells me she now hears things on the TV that she had never heard before and such detail.

  • Comfort is really the only issue
The very thin padding and thin band at the top is definitely going to bother some heads. I found with my head and hair that it created uncomfortable pressure points that made it a pain to where. In comparison, my friend who I let try this had no issues with the comfort so YMMV. The saving grace I think is because its so incredibly light, this won't bother the majority of people. The ear pads are the slow rebound type which is my favorite and does a great job at distributing the pressure from the clamp. My ears did feel a bit cramped in the cups so while it does fully encompasses them, it can feel a bit claustrophobic, this is definitely trying to be compact and lightweight. This is interesting to have around, I feel that you're mostly paying for the convenience of having a solution to being uncomfortable of disturbing someone with the sound of the TV. I have my TV connected to the box through optical so if I ever need to quickly switch to these headphones then I just need to put it on optical output, then press the on button on the Phones, very quick and easy. Might be super useful in an apartment with thin walls and want to blast audio into your ears. Straight up, at the same price, if you get headphones that just uses 3.5mm for the same price, they will end up sounding better. I will say that these have surprised me with the bass impact and clarity of voices at times which I feel will be very important for a lot of people. I also don't see how anyone will deal with the inconvenience of having to deal with a cable as well and that's where this wins. The latency is also incredibly low since it uses RF to transmit audio from the box so I don't notice any issues with lip syncing. It does also have a bluetooth mode but its not something I have tested out so I can't comment on the latency. Without a doubt has its place in the market by helping solve the "disturbing others" issue and the battery life is just so long that its a great product. I just wish the headband was a bid wider as to distribute weight better but otherwise it has been fantastic to have around. ... show more

  • Really good headphones
Would 100% recommend, easy to use, battery life is great, the sound quality both with Bluetooth and auracast is amazing, are vey comfortable, they are a bit expensive but are cheaper than Sony’s good headphones

  • no Instructions included
don't have a clue if it works as there are no English instructions. As much as this headset cost the least, they can do is include instructions instead of making a person have to go to a website to download. How is that senior friendly?

  • Wow! Sound so good...
I own a fair amount of audio gear across some of the best brands on the market, and Sennheiser is one of them. I've relied on the brand for wireless microphone receivers in my video production business for years, used their headphones for podcasting, radio, and video production, and even own a pair of their earbuds for casual listening on my phone. The RS 255 is new territory for me — its main function is connecting to a TV with a base station for private listening, whether you're trying not to bother others in the room or watching late at night while everyone sleeps or if you are a bit hard of hearing, improve speech sounds from your tv. The sound quality is what you'd expect from Sennheiser — full, rich, and multichannel, delivering a convincing 3D surround effect along with speech clarity modes. The earpads are different from the standard headphone foam, using some kind of gel or soft memory foam that feels noticeably more plush. This makes them comfortable to wear for a 2 hour long movie. These are not noise-cancelling, but fit over the ear comfortably blocking most room tone. These are essentially Bluetooth headsets that connect to a base station with Auracast technology, which in turn connects to your television or stereo equipment. That's a nice touch for TVs that don't have Bluetooth built in. My OLED TV does have Bluetooth and I've connected headphones and speakers to it without issue, but the RS 255 brings a few purpose-built features to the table. You can adjust the sound profile to favor clearer speech or richer tonality for music — not groundbreaking on its own, since many devices already offer similar modes like "Filmmaker" or "Sports," but it's well implemented here. Paired with the Sennheiser app, the headphones open up considerably with a wide range of customization and listening presets. What really sets these apart is Sennheiser's Auracast technology, which allows an unlimited number of enabled headphones to connect to a single receiver. Imagine every member of your family with their own set, each custom-dialed to their preferences. Transparency features let you carry on a conversation or stay aware of your surroundings without removing the headset. The earpieces are replaceable, and the battery is accessible with a small screwdriver — also replaceable, which is a welcome design choice which adds longevity to the unit. At $279, these land on the high end, and you won't necessarily see the value in the craftsmanship or build quality — but you will hear it, and that's where you'll understand these are true hi-fi headsets. Who are they for? I think they're best suited for people who struggle to hear the TV clearly, those who use hearing aids, or anyone who's particular about audio quality and wants a surround sound experience without installing speakers all over the room. The headsets can also connect to other audio BT sources like CD players, phones and mp3 players. ... show more
