Not like any Damascus knives I’ve seen previously. I get the sense that the Damascus is purely decorative to get the tidal wave effect. That said the knives are beautiful, very sharp, the edge is holding well a couple months in and the handles are stunning and unique. The knives are very functional, good to look at and have added to the kitchen experience. Update: I still like the knives very much but have learned a hard lesson. The cleaver needs to be treated more delicately than I would have expected. I spatchcocked some poultry recently and the ribs chipped and ruined the cleaver blade. The manufacturer was responsive and indicated they try to communicate proper use of that tool but I never saw it. Your expectations of a cleaver might be different from mine but just be aware…probably not the best choice for rougher use. ... show more

I should have looked closer. They are gorgeous and appear to be extremely well made. Now they will bounce around in a drawer with all my other utensils. Please include a knife block. Add twenty or thirty bucks. I'd have bought them anyway. No knife block... :( Edit- changed to 5 start. Great knives. Buying without a block is my own fault. Great product! Beautiful. ... show more

Update: customer service was good and replaced the broken knives. However, they said he shouldnt cut carrots or anything hard with the knives. I bought these knifes for my husband. He is a chef and needed good knives. Most of the reviews were positive and for the price they should last forever. However, he has been using them just over a month and 3 are broken. One blade is chiped. One blade is cracked. And one handle is broken. ... show more
