I got this primarily to pressurize tanks to check for leaks. It can also be used to help locate leaks in supply lines. It appears to be a good quality gauge assembly with plenty of adaptability. The Schrader valve worked fine and was leak-free. The gauge readings were consistent and accurate. For my purposes, vibration is not a factor so this "dry" gauge is perfectly adequate. I sometimes need to attach an extension hose on a gauge and was pleased to find that the 1/4" NPT adapter fitting was removeable. I have confidence that this assembly will serve my needs. I just bought a 1988 boat and needed to do a pressure test on the fuel tank. Since I would need to build the fittings for sealing all of the lines and to put air in it. I found this to add a piece of pipe to that my hose will clamp on to seal. After getting a few extra pieces from my local supply store I was able to test without an issue. These definitely are worth it for me. I was able to put about 2.5 psi of pressure in it and let it sit for 1-,20, and 30 minute intervals to ensure it wasn't leaking down anywhere. I tested it with just a pipe plug in place, and it held pressure for more than 24hrs, so I can be confident any pressure drop I see during a test indicates a leak in the system and not a problem with the gauge. It's nice to have a couple of these, set up with shark-bite adapters. That way you don't have to keep swapping out threaded adapters that need tape or sealant and potentially setting up leaks in the test apparatus. ... show more

Bright metal plating used to be very common. Today, it is rather uncommon. The plating not only looks good, it will protect the underlying metal. The Shrader valve will come in handy for pressure testing various types of piping or pressure vessels. Bought this for the few times I need to test water pressure at a house. This is a great plumbing tool to have on you when leaks have been detected or there is a potential of one. You will need to buy a nipple or a tee to screw this into the washer hoses, but works like a charm once acquired. I havent tested its accuracy yet but should do the trick to see pressure levels in a house. ... show more
