Someone mentioned the low carb content for diabetes in cats. The Gourmet Natural Pate line actually has higher carbs than the Natural grave line. I agree the ingredients on the pates are very clean without plants so where do those carbs come from? Diabetic cats should not have over 5% carbs on a dry matter basis and yet these pate style have over 10%. dry….around 12 to 15. The pate does not have caragenon (misspelled) or wheat gluten yet all the gravies do. Absolutely, does not make sense. If you’re watching carbs, just remember that the gravies actually have less! Around 3 to 5% dry matter! If you want to keep a healthy cat healthy no more that 10% dry matter. I love the pate ingredients but don’t need those carbs. FF please see the question section to clear this up. My cat absolutely loves the pates & eats the gravy much less enthusiastically. I do agree though that you can use fancy feast as a healthy food for diabetic cats, or any cat for that matter because cats do not need carbohydrates. Just be sure to do the math and figure out which ones have under 5% carbohydrates dry matter basis. Google cat carb calculator & you can easily do the math using the guaranteed analysis. Sometimes they ash continent is located on the can or box if it’s not most people use 1.5% for the ash using the cat carb calculator! 😀 ... show more

Charlie's coat became softer and more lustrous. We think it's because of the lack of wheat gluten, but that's a guess. The downside is Charlie dislikes the pate and you have to buy the naturals packaged together with half being sauced and the other half pate. Be nice if they changed that. Charlie doesn't like this as well as his regular Fancy Feast, but, like my kippered herring, it's an acquired taste and I'm sure he'll get it, although the pate remains in doubt. ... show more

I have a cat that doesn't like Tuna. In fact, it has to be the only thing left in the house and he has to not have eaten for a few days for him to even touch it. So, I was a little leery about getting a fish in case he didn't like that one either. However, he loves this one and the portion size is just the right amount for one serving for him. I also like that it's not a ton of crude protein and the like but has a significant portion of real meat. I would definitely buy this again and I am considering trying some of the other flavors (that don't contain tuna) to see if he likes those too. ... show more
