Needed to replace helmet

I had a HJC helmet with a Cardo headset, and it was time to replace the helmet, and I was automatically going to order the newest version of the modular HJC helmet when a friend suggested the Sena which came with the Sena system and speakers and microphone built in. I ordered the Sena with a little hesitation and when it arrived it felt a little tight (lg), so I had a friend try it on that would normally wear a med. and he said it was too loose. So I thought this just must be how it fits, when I went out for the first time it was perfect, very comfortable. But the best part is how great the Sena system works, very easy to hook up. Very clear, no background noise, no hissing or interferes. And unlike the Cardo it's on all the time and when you talk you don't miss any words or have to ask, "what did you say?" Great helmet didn't feel tight at all after getting out on the road. Highly recommend. ... show more

Very nice helmet

This is a solidly built helmet. It’s going to be somewhat heavier than a full face but you expect that in most modular helmets because of all the mechanical parts involved. My initial impressions are that it’s a good quality helmet. Everything snaps open or closed,up or down,in a very solid,satisfying way. The padding is nice,a little stiff,I wear a Medium in all my other helmets and this is pretty tight,especially on my cheeks,but I’m okay with that because I expect it will wear in with use and I prefer a little bit of a hug vs a jiggle. The sound system is very nice. The option of changing the bass,mid-range and treble if you choose helps the functionality I think. You also can crank this up and hear your music with no problem and I didn’t notice any real distortion either. Because it’s a modular you’re going to get some wind effects,but I rode in 26 mph winds in it today and it was very tolerable. Using good quality ear plugs will probably nearly eliminate most wind noise and you could still easily hear the music,wind and all. I haven’t used the mesh yet but I’m eager to as I expect it will be as good in quality as other aspects of this helmet. The same for calls. This is an upgraded,next level Outrush R and it shows that thought was put into it. My son owns an Outrush R and the quality of it impressed me enough to want one like it,but honestly,this is better. A couple very small bones to pick might be that the drop down sun visor could be just a tad darker but I wouldn’t consider it a deal breaker. There is a consideration for people like myself who wear glasses and that is that this helmet isn’t specifically designed for wearing glasses. I have a Scorpion that even is labeled”for glasses” or something like that. The problem arose for me because the legs of my glasses are apparently fairly long and between that and the stiff padding I couldn’t get them to settle on my nose properly. I could still see,but it was something I wasn’t expecting. More annoying than anything but not dangerous. I do have another pair with shorter legs and they work just fine with no interference. The drop down sun visor worked just fine while wearing glasses,so no worries there. Overall this is an impressive modular helmet at this price point. Everything about it feels solid and of good quality and the comms are very ergonomic and have good customizable sound too. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again or give one as a gift. Because it only comes in matte black or gloss white,I did what I always do to my matte helmets and put holographic stickers on mine to make it more noticeable while I’m riding.Plus it’s fun to make the blah colored helmets personally your own but I’m a 64 yo grandma and I think we need to not take ourselves so seriously. Just my rebellious little old opinion,take it with a grain of salt. But be confident that this is a good helmet that does what it says it will do and not make you think twice. ... show more

Good helmet but Bluetooth/Mesh Intercom sucks

I have a love/hate relationship with Sena. The helmet itself is comfortable and easy to utilise functions such as vents and visor while riding. the screw on the outer or main visor unscrewed while I was riding, had to stop and repair before wind ripped visor off. The sound quality is a huge improvement over the original headset. It has been an on going nightmare to get Bluetooth/Intercom to work. It DOES NOT Bluetooth to the Harley Boom Audio system. Had to purchase a Sena Freewire to connect to stereo/nav etc. So far I am unable to connect to both the stereo and phone at same time. So unless you are very tech savvy it turns into an ongoing money pit to connect to more than one device including other mesh intercom devices. In retrospect I'd have purchased a Cardo system instead. ... show more

Great Helmet

This helmet is great! I wasn't sure about the size when I ordered it, but it fit just fine. The Bluetooth work flawlessly and the speakers in the helmet have a great sound that you can actually hear above the noise of the bike. This is the first helmet that I've owned with a modular design and I love it. I'm still learning about all the other features. There was a YouTube video that said it could pick up FM radio, but I haven't found a way to do that yet. Probably have to pick it up on your cellphone. Long-term Review

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2026 (LONG-TERM REVIEW): As of today, I have owned this helmet for 11 months. I'll cover what I love and what I don't like. Keep in mind that I ride a lot, way more than the average rider. I recently sold my 2018 Honda Goldwing Tour with 115,000 miles on it (and I bought it with 2 miles on it) and purchased a 2025 model. I've already got almost 10,000 miles on it, and it's only a few months old. Keeping in mind that I have used this helmet exclusively over the last 11 months, here we go! PROS: * BATTERY LIFE - It is an incredibly well-performing helmet! The talk time is utterly amazing. I have made numerous 12-14 hour trips listening to music and using Apple CarPlay the whole way, and the battery life is downright stunning. I am constantly amazed that when I finish one of those really long trips and shut down the helmet, I hear, "Battery level is high, goodbye!" Imagine riding from Austin, TX to Amarillo, TX (an 8-10-hour trip), arriving in Amarillo, powering off your helmet, and hearing, "Battery level is high, goodbye!" Now, that's impressive. And on one of those trips, I didn't recharge the helmet at the hotel, so I made a complete round trip from Austin to Amarillo on one battery charge. * SOUND QUALITY - The sound quality will blow your ears off, literally! Where I struggled with my old helmet being loud enough on windy days at 75 MPH, I have to turn the volume quite a bit to be able to tolerate the loud volume. Once you get the volume adjusted to your liking, you are fine. But it isn't just the volume; the quality of the sound is superior to any of my previous Sena units. Music sounds great! The bass is great. It's clear, quality sound. * PERFORMANCE - I have been in the extreme summer heat of Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona, and in wet, near-freezing weather in northern states. It gets great airflow from the vent on the top, cooling your head when needed, and very good insulation in cold weather when you close the vents. I never had a leak riding on those rainy day trips where it rained the entire way - day trips that lasted 8-10 hours. * COMFORT - I am picky when it comes to the comfort of a helmet for 12-hour rides. The smallest, minor imperfection in the fit of the helmet can turn into an annoying sore over the course of a day. At no time did I experience any discomfort. Keep in mind that I also wore sunglasses the whole time, something I couldn't do with my previous helmet. I have big ears, and other helmets can squish the top of my ears over a long ride, but not this one. There is plenty of room around my ears to ride all day and never get that squished ear pain. CONS: * DURABILITY - In fairness, I ride a lot. I already mentioned that. I have used this helmet almost every day over the last 11 months. Having said that, you shouldn't be experiencing numerous breakdowns over the course of 11 months, and I am. The black, bottom plastic trim along the back and side of the helmet has detached because the small, thin pieces that lock it into place have broken. I've double-sided taped the trim a few times and still struggle with keeping it attached to the helmet. The face shield lock mechanism on the left side has come off numerous times, and I had to struggle on the side of the road trying to get it popped back into place. Two times I just couldn't get it popped back into place, and I ended up removing the face shield and riding back home without a face shield until my wife (who has far more patience than I do) could fix it. Although she said she didn't think she could repair the left face shield joint again - it's worn out. I am changing my rating on this helmet from 5 stars to 4 stars because after constant, heavy use over the last 11 months, my helmet is breaking down. Having said that, I am strongly considering buying another one because it has been so awesome; I just hate the fact that it hasn't lasted a year. The very fact that I am considering buying another one should tell you how impressed I am with the helmet overall. But do I want to pay for a helmet again, knowing that it will probably only last me a year with heavy use? No, so I am going to look at other options. In the end, I may just bite the bullet and get another one of these if I can't find something that performs as well. It does not have the build quality that I am used to, but it costs 1/3 to 1/2 less... so, don't be surprised that it won't last as long as an $1,100 helmet. * SUN VISOR - I have already complained about the sun visor being so light that it doesn't qualify to be called a "sun visor". I had to wear sunglasses. The plus is that if you get caught riding at night and the left joint of the face shield breaks, so you have to remove your whole face shield to get home, you can use the "sun visor" at night without seriously affecting your night vision! Ask me how I know! In addition to not being dark enough, there are lines in the sun visor that are out of focus, so when you drop the sun visor down, you go from crystal-clear vision through the face shield to an awkward fight to keep your head positioned just right so you aren't looking through one of those blurry, out-of-focus lines. FINAL OPINION - This is a great helmet. The fact that I am torn between finding an alternative that will hold up better over the long haul or buying another one after only 11 months of daily, heavy use should tell you how impressed I am with it. But they could do better with the quality, especially of the black trim piece on the back bottom of the helmet. The same goes for the face shield connectors. Maybe the face shield connector is a fluke or something I did, but that black plastic trim piece is cheap. If you don't mind gluing it back on, you are going to be fine. Unless I can find an alternative that is this comfortable, performs as well overall, and has 20+ hours of battery life, I'll be buying this helmet again after 11 months of heavy use. ... show more

Great sound, good fit

I love this helmet. I ordered a size larger then my measurements but I was on the line between small and medium so got the medium. It fits fine but may need to see if there is some padding I can get to put in the top. It feels like it should sit a little higher on my head but overall it is great. The sound is perfect and the ventilation works great. If I have one gripe is that there weren't more color options. ... show more

Poor build quality but stylish

Fell apart in one week. Absolute crap for connection of visor and the internal trim pieces fell off in ride. The only good thing about it was the speakers they are quite loud and clear but really good speakers and a Bluetooth connection is worth like 40 bucks not 400. I sent it back after having to super glue it to get home. I like the matte finish though it looks stylish if that's all you care about ... show more

A+ Helmet !!

This is a great Helmet! I have used it for over 500 miles so far and have nothing but good to say about it. I got the XXL and it fit perfectly. The comfort is great, the feel is super and the ventilation is far better than I thought it would be. The sound is very, very good at all speeds. I have not had to use the communication mesh set up yet, but I feel it will be great based on every other experience I have had with this helmet. This is worth a good look at I do not think you would be disappointed. Side note, this is the first review I have ever written...the helmet is just that good. ... show more
