  • Very good but MUST have a Bluetooth shutter release
I got this zoom kit plus another product (a tripod with a Bluetooth shutter release) for my son's upcoming band performance. The pictures are from the same spot on my kitchen table pointed at the crockpot timer. The 1x and 5x magnification are all my iPhone 13 mini can handle. The 22x magnification is with the telephoto zoom lens and my phone at 1x internal magnification. The 110x is with the telephoto zoom lens and my camera at a 5x internal magnification. The quality is pretty good and I think the video/pictures of my son's all-state performance should be great regardless of how far back we are sitting. A caveat to any zoom lens is you MUST have a shutter release to take the photo!!! If you try to touch the phone to take a picture, the jiggle will be multiplied by 110x as well. A shutter release is 100% necessary for max zoom without the picture looking like a college drinking night memory (all blurry and can't tell what the heck is going on). ... show more

  • Not Compatible with iPhone 13 (and maybe 11, 12)
Update: A new software update (iOS 15.1 or higher) gives you the ability to turn this off. Go to settings, select camera, and then turn off “Auto Macro.” This completely solves that problem :-) If you set up the telephoto lens over your main camera, the iPhone 13 (and maybe the other iPhones with multiple lenses; I didn’t try it on an 11 or 12) automatically switches to using your 3x or .5 lenses because the main lens now has less light coming in. You can’t disable the automatic switching, so the only way to make the camera take the photo is by keeping your fingers over the other two lenses…or maybe bringing some painters tape and keeping them covered. Either way, your 3x and .5 get all smudged (or sticky) while you battle against the camera that’s hell-bent on “helping” you by automatically adjusting its settings in response to this invading lens attachment. When I kept my fingers over the two lenses that I wasn’t using, I could force the camera to take a photo through the attached lense, but this was clumsy and awkward and it was difficult (nearly impossible) to cover the lenses, balance the heavy lense, and have a hand free to focus that lense. Pictures turned out OK in the dead center, but got blurry quickly as you moved towards the edges. Maybe that could have been improved if I could have adjusted the focus more comfortably, but I’m not sure. To have more control over the lens, I downloaded a manual camera app for about $8 called “ProCam.” That gave me total control over the camera, but I’m not a professional photographer. If you are familiar enough with DSLR features to use that app successfully, you’re probably not trying to attach a telephoto lens to your camera….you’d just use the DSLR. So, although the ProCam app did allow me to bypass the auto-switching of the lenses, it became too advanced for this beginner to use proficiently. Overall, I liked the idea and had high hopes for some little league action shots, but for the mommy sports enthusiast, I think the best photos are still being shot with DSLR cameras….or by parents who get just a little closer than you are supposed to! 🤣 ... show more

  • Just as expected - not better, not worse - Great value.
This was used on the iPhone 11 Pro - the 3 lens camera. Review will go in order of the pictures - 1. Case (inside and out) .. The size of the carrying case will allow me to keep it in my purse and easily transport. It's a hard cover that zips with a wrist handle, and everything fits securely and is banded down so I won't ever have to worry about any of the pieces moving around. 2. Macro - just as expected. This is of my little lemon cypress tree. I think it's really cool, but you have to get really really close in order to be able to focus and find your object. I've never used lenses like this before, so this may be how they all work. 3. Fisheye and telephoto - Pretty cool, I got this primarily for the telephoto feature. Pictures aren't perfect quality, but they'll do the trick. I was just holding my phone for these pictures, so a tripod will probably help the clarity - however the tripod included I definitely don't trust to hold this lens - I have other tripods I'll use with this lens. Fisheye is neat, I don't see myself using it often. 4 and 5 - The wide angle lens is okay. With my 11 Pro I can zoom out to wide angle at the 5X level and the photo is a lot more crisp and clear. Won't ever use this lens, but I knew that I wouldn't when I bought the kit. I was only really looking for two of the lenses but this was a cheaper kit to buy than just individual lenses. 6. Wide angle lens damage - I'm not entirely sure what happened here, but it definitely happened during production and not packaging or transportation. The lens cover was on and it was snug and secure in the hard cover case, inside the box. None of the other lenses have this damage. I wouldn't be so concerned because it's just cosmetic damage seemingly, but it is located right where you screw the lens onto the clip, so I'm worried it'll wear over time. Not insanely concerned because this is the only lens that appears to be imperfect, and as I said in my point above, my phone already has a wide angle feature so I don't see myself using this lens. 7. All the pieces. Tripod will be useful for the smaller, lighter lenses. Comes with a lens cloth and a smaller carrying case. All in all, great product. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews/looked at review photos to make my choice and I'm happy with it. This is great for beginners, easy to use. Seems sturdy and like it'll last as long as I take care of them. Excited to put the telephoto into use for moon shots. ... show more

  • Not getting the distance I expected
I’m using this with an Apple iPhone 12 which has a decent lens configuration. The advertising I’ve seen in the past (not by this vendor) showed extremely long range telephoto usage which apparently the 22X is NOT. 22X is good enough to get a reasonable close-up pic of a person smiling from about 100’ but I thought I was going to get something on the order of 5 times better than that so I must need 100X or better and I can’t find anything to clamp onto my phone at that level. For the price, the combination of lenses included is a good deal. It would be nice if the clamp were designed to handle adjustment on the basis of more than one axis. As it stands, you have to be pretty careful not to jar the camera at all once you get the clamp around the lens. Overall, you get a good value price wise. ... show more
