Description

Designed for performance use, the SLR Boost Endurance TI316 Superflow Saddle is part of Selle Italia’s SLR line of saddles. SLR stands for super light racing. Its compact structure has a slight rise at the back for ideal placement of the ischial bones - so it improves the rider’s power transfer and optimizes overall positioning. The shell, made from 30% carbon composite and high-grade nylon polymer, is lightweight, yet supportive. This road bicycle seat uses titanium rails that help it stay lightweight without sacrificing the toughness that Selle Italia saddles are known for. The rails also increase resistance and durability by up to 25% and reduce weight by 15% when compared with traditional rails. The “Boost” short nose bike saddle has been designed to increase comfort during hard pedaling efforts and allows easy weight transfer when it counts. It features a special elongated Superflow cut-out that relieves perineal pressure, helping to mitigate numbness and pain during longer rides, and a thin layer of silicone gel to help to absorb road vibrations so you can ride longer and more comfortably.

When talking about saddles it goes without saying that what works for me may not work for another. But with that said this Selle Italia SLR Boost really works for me. First, I like Selle saddles and have had three. The saddle I am replacing is a Selle Italia Superflow Gel Max., a 143 X 280 mm saddle. I am much happier with this new saddle for 2 reasons. First, the SLR Boost is a 145 X 248 mm saddle. I expected it to be more comfortable generally and specifically when I am riding in my drops and it is in spades. Second, although my old Selle and this new one are both designated LE saddles by Selle, this new saddle has a much wider ergometric opening that extends farther toward the front of the saddle so I am experiencing less perineum discomfort with the new saddle which is a good thing. And finally, probably for all of these reason, I just find this to be a very comfortable saddle for short or long rides. I am 6" 1'' and weigh 190 lbs. ... show more

Everyone is built a little different. This saddle is the most comfortable seat I have ever sat on. It's lighter than my old seat and looks fantastic on the bicycle.

    • Expensive but comfortable
I've tried literally 30 or more saddles in the last 3-4 years, in addition to three professional bike fits. Yes, really. I don't even want to think about how much money I've spent trying to get comfortable...but most of the saddles go to eBay after a couple weeks of painful rides. This one is different. It's not perfect, but it's really good. What I think makes it work well for me is the large cutout, flexible shell, just-right padding, slight rise at the back, and the overall shape just works really well for me. Notice I said "for me". But if you've tried a number of saddles without much success (Specialized Power, Selle SMP, Bontrager...), this one might work well for you too. So far I've gone on 2 hour rides, including plenty of time both on the hoods and in the drops, no numbness, and still pretty comfortable at the end. It's a nice bonus that you are not "locked" into place like many other saddles. You can slide forward or back if that's more comfortable when climbing or in full aero TT position.     • More flex than expected... in a good way.
L3 size... best saddle I’ve ever had. Initially it feels like it may be a little uncomfortable but after 20 minutes into first ride I completely forgot it was there... the deep cutouts are great and in steamy Florida also provide great airflow. You get what you pay for.

    • A Good Saddle and a Valuable Warranty Lesson
I was quite happy with the comfort of the saddle, at least until the nose of the saddle snapped during an easy ride. I'm not sure if I just got a bad saddle or possibly, I just weigh too much for this type of saddle design (225lbs). The large central cutout presents some structural challenges for all saddles. I own a number of similar designs though and this was my first break of the actual saddle portion. On the plus side, Selle Italia provides a two-year warranty against manufacturing defects. It was at this point, that I learned my mistake of buying from a random Amazon seller. Selle Italia expects you, understandably, to use an authorized retailer to process your warranty claim. The Amazon seller told me I was on my own for any warranty claims. In fairness, if you look closely enough, the seller tells you that very fact on their storefront. It took a bit of digging, but I eventually found a good email address with which to contact Selle Italia USA. The company responded quickly and shipped out a new saddle within days.     • Ideal for long days in the saddle.
I only completed a few rides on this saddle. Each ride lasted between 10-19 hours. Before that I rode leather saddles (Brooks, Selle Anatomica, others). This saddle work better for me than any leather saddle. While my neither region is still tender after long rides, the level of abrasion has reduced significantly. The cutout combined with the light padding reduce pressure in my perineum and soft tissue around it. ... show more
