For $100, the Selkirk Vanguard Invikta (middleweight) is an awesome paddle. My first paddle was also Selkirk, the SLK Evo Soft XL. That paddle had a longer handle, but it was a less comfortable handle, and the touch that paddle claims to give you pales in comparison to this Invikta. I'm a former USTA Tennis league 3.5 level men's doubles/mixed doubles that's moved over to the dark side here. I'm in an advanced intermediate-to-advanced level league and this paddle has really helped me improve my dinking game, including reaction stabs, precision overheads, driving forehands with both topspin or flat shots, and loving drop volleys (sorry, "dinks") with this paddle, whereas the last paddle more dinks were getting popped up in air or going into the middle of the net. As for the "imperfections", I didn't notice any at all. I also tried the Mach 6 Invikita Power Blue, but it hurt my wrist and it seemed to have less touch/control than the Invikta. I have a naturally powerful drive as a tennis player so if you're like me, you should go for touch paddles more than ones that help with power IMO. ... show more

Bought a Selkirk Second. It looks and feels brand new. It really has a large sweet spot and it has helped to improve my game. It has a tiny “2” engraved in the bottom of the handle which differentiates it from the brand new Selkirk. I plan to buy more of these racquets.

I am a relative newcomer to pickleball and began playing around 3 months ago, first with a Selkirk Neo beginner paddle set, which is a great set for beginners by the way. As my play got better, I wanted to improve my control with a more advanced paddle but also not break the bank. The Selkirk Vanguard S2 factory second from Amazon was the answer!! The sweet spot on this paddle is huge and you can really feel it when you hit a less than perfect shot. I opted for the midweight version which is perfect for me, but a lightweight model is available also. And don't let the 'factory second' label sway you, the paddle I received was basically like new with no deformities. If you're a beginner to intermediate player looking to greatly improve your control and make more precise shots, I cannot recommend the Selkirk Vanguard S2 more, it's an amazing paddle!! ... show more

I really like this paddle. My game has improved since I got it. Selkirk Vanguard Invicta Middleweight paddle. The only thing con I have is that it weighs 8.4 ounces and at that weight is a heavyweight paddle. I can’t say if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but I bought a middleweight partly because I have an issue with my right shoulder. Time will tell if I need to reconsider if I like this paddle or not. ... show more
