This material is AWESOME to work with I wish I'd found it YEARS ago. Much nicer looking than tape all over everything! I'm salvaging old furniture, protecting new furniture, upgrading the tree, and all of it gives her more scratching square footage. Large pieces stick better than small pieces. They can be moved, and may take a few days to settle in to place. Update it doesn't stick equally well to all fabrics... YMMV. Hair and dust matter, clean first

I chose this self-ashesive scratching mat because I was in desperate need of added protection for my couch from my 3 cats. PROS: - The beige color blends nicely with my couch color. While you can still see the difference in contrast between the couch and the scratching mat, I was pleasantly surprised to see a variety of color choices available that helped me find a close option. I would not have liked being stuck with black or gray for this particular couch. - The mats themselves are self adhesive, allowing you to stick them directly to the couch material if you choose to do so. - The material is very easy to cut to size as required. - A set of push pins are included should you feel the need to use them. (I personally did not.) CONS: - While the self adhesive backing is a huge plus, the plastic layer is super difficult to peel back. Good luck finding a corner that will actually peel! Once I found an edge that would pull back, I found the plastic to be so fragile that it would shred instead of coming off in one piece. This was the most frustrating part of the installation process. - There are zero instructions included. It's not hard to figure out, but it would be nice if the company included a one sheet with information or even a QR code that linked to a demo video. - The square double stick tape patches that come with the kit are useless. The backing doesn't peel off properly, and it didn't stick to my furniture. Just stick the mats directly to the couch because the self adhesive is already pretty strong. Overall, the product seems like it will achieve what I'm after and I'm happy with how it looks.

I wish I had this before my cats scratched my couch. But at least now I can cover it up and protect what’s left. Looks much better. So far the adhesive seems to work well.

I was very excited to try these after reading reviews. The plastic backing is difficult to get off, but once you get an edge it comes off easily. They went on nicely, but i came home from work today and they were all on the floor...they do not adhere well at all to my couches. Based on other reviews I was hopeful. We stuck them back on and they are already peeling off again.

This "Self-Adhesive Cat Scratching Mat - Durable Couch Protector (beige) by Symyda" came in 3 rolls, which I like, as dealing with a single 118" roll would have been a bit difficult. This is a great 'scratch protection' for our furniture and sticks very well on our couch, recliner, and our cubical ends (cats like to scratch even though its' smooth). The only down side (with EVERY self-adhesive scratch protector I've bought) is that if you remove it for any reason, it will NOT stay "stuck" if it's reapplied to ANY surface. Some products say it can be "reapplied", but NOT! Another issue that some have reported with some "protectors" is that they won't stay "stuck" to their furniture, that isn't an individual product issue, as the adhesive that virtually all of them use, won't stick to some types of materials, such as 'heavy woven' materials (or textures that are similar to that of the 'protector mats') as the "protector mats" won't stay "stuck" to themselves for very long (a few minutes if you don't touch it). An issue that I've seen mentioned is that the "protectors' don't stay on the "edges of cushions", and since the "protectors" are relatively "stiff" they don't "give" like the "cushions" do while in use. A useful solution to this issue, is to install the "protector" a couple of inches over the TOP of the cushion and then down the 'front', then the "protector" will have a better 'grip' on the cushion and not just on the 'crushing face' of the cushion. It will stay on much longer without falling off. Over all, this Scratch Protector Mat, is a great product and does exactly what one would expect of it, and it looks nice on the furniture and lasts a long time while protecting the upholstery and other surfaces from our cats scratching multiple times, every day. I can easily recommend this product for anyone with scratchy kitties.

I agree with other reviewers on the effectiveness of the adhesive and it does seem a bit thin for my little monsters. It is still useful for furniture protection. I'm using a thicker scratching mat for their favorite spot and this on the lesser used spots. The choice of colors is nice and being able to trim to size is very helpful.

This product could use some work. Pros: -The cats enjoy scratching it, they don't just avoid it to find parts of the couch to scratch -It does adhere nicely in some areas, mainly flat areas. -It works really well under my doors to keep cats from picking at the carpet, which is great. Cons: -The film is a pain to peel off, as others have mentioned. Expect to sit there picking at it for a long time. -It does not adhere everywhere. Small pieces fall off almost immediately, so only use in large areas. Also, it adheres much better for flat areas than bent areas (which is a shame, because my cats mainly love scratching the corners/edges of the couch.) -I tried using the extra adhesion squares and curly pins, but to no avail. Some instructions would be nice.
