Aside from the fabulous patterns and the beautiful color, we really like these for things like ketchup when you're having fries, or to hold an ounce of a snack, or a small bite of dessert. They're very cute and they've worked out really well for us. We also have the rectangular plates that we sometimes put them on to do a little charcuterie with some olives or something in them.
