If you are looking for a Seiko Diver and don't actually Dive, this is a good choice. It is rated for 100 meters so good for most people- light swimming and splashing. If don't want to spend the money on an SKX, this watch has a very similar aesthetic. I really love the dial and design. The first one I bought was defective. You can see how it was running on the timegrapher, in the pic I uploaded. It's supposed to look like 1 or 2 horizontal lines. Instead, it looked like a starry night sky. I returned and repurchased it. The new one just arrived, and here are the readings on the timegrapher: Rate (accuracy) = +2 s/d - excellent Amplitude = 265 - excellent (at least for Seiko). Beat Error = 0-2 - excellent UPDATE: After a few days the rate jumped to +5-10 s/d. That's even better, since mechanical watches slow down over time before eventually needing service. I'd rather have a watch that runs +10 s/d, than one that runs slow by any amount. All you have to do is pull out the crown, wait the number of seconds it's ahead, and pop it back in. If you have other Seiko diver watches, you'll most likely find this one small. 40mm at the top of the bezel looks quite small on my 7" wrist. Because of the shorter end-to-end lug width, it's probably more suitable for a 6"-6.5" wrist. It's the smallest watch I own now, out of a collection of 25+. I wish the bezel was 42mm instead of 40. I like the contrast between the blue bezel, the white chapter ring, and the blue dial. I much prefer watches [like this] that have both the date and day of the week. The dial itself looks best outdoors or under bright light, but it's not shiny, it's a matte blue finish. Slight sun ray action, but nothing impressive. Most of the time it just looks dark blue or black. The triangle on the bezel lines up perfectly at the 12:00 position, something Seiko is notorious for screwing up. The bezel rotates and clicks nicely: not too tight, not too loose. The hands and indices are coated with Seiko's proprietary Lumibrite, so you can expect to be able to read the time most, if not all night, in the dark. I really wish it had a luminous pip on the bezel's 12:00 marker. I like to set it for the time I went to bed, and see how many hours have passed as I toss & turn through the night. If it had that, I'd give it 5 stars. No screw-down crown, but you don't need that unless you have a 200M watch for diving. This is 100M, so light swimming and snorkeling are ok, just no diving. I wish "100M" was written on the dial like most diver watches. I don't like the rubber/plastic band on this one at all, so I changed it. It's one of those bands that fits either too tight or too loose. Moreover, bands like these always force the watch to roll away from me on my wrist, and constantly having to move it back toward me is annoying. NOTE: These are not made in Japan. My guess is Malaysia. The bottom of the dial only says "4R36 - 07F4 R5 2". Overall, this is a very nice watch. Best for people with a wrist size smaller than 7". Would make a great gift for a teenager who wants to get into automatic mechanical watches. ... show more
