I ordered watch as an everyday casual grab and go, do it all watch. This thing is everything you truly need in a watch. It's shiny and it tells the time without the hassle of an automatic or hand winding watch. You can get that classic look that is understated and elegant while not spending a fortune to do so. Some people will try to convince you that a quartz watch is inferior to their mechanical counterparts and that you need to spend $$$ on a watch to impress others, but it's all up to the person who wears it! I think this watch offers great value for the money considering it's $100-150 price point. It's solid, the finishing is surprisingly well crafted. You wouldn't expect a watch in this price range to feature a sapphire crystal, a well finished case, AND Seiko lumibrite. The luminescence on this piece is astonishing. It's very legible in dark environments and lasts much longer than you'd reasonably need in a realistic setting. The 40mm case size along with the 20mm lug width makes this watch very wearable for the majority of people. On my 7.5 inch wrist, it wears well on both the bracelet as well as the leather nato strap I have it on in the picture. I prefer it on a nato strap or mesh bracelet as it does not add to the overall weight and leaves you with a supremely wearable watch. If you have a wrist smaller than 7.25 inches, this watch may wear larger for you. That may or may not be your thing but it's worth a try. The thickness of the case is under 10mm I believe and it wears very snug to the wrist. Even on a leather nato strap like I have here, it still hugs the wrist quite well. The bracelet is just okay, I've heard many reviewers say that the bracelet is the weakest point on this watch but for the price, making a wearable bracelet is not the easiest task especially for a huge brand like Seiko. The bracelet has a new pin system that I had never worked with prior to buying this watch. To my surprise, this pin system is by far the easiest bracelet adjustment I've ever done. I've adjusted bracelets from the likes of higher end Seiko watches, to Hamilton, Longines, etc. This was without a doubt the easiest bracelet to size. With that said, there's not much micro adjustability and finding a perfect fit will be a challenge. That said, you DON'T NEED ANY TOOL. And that's a first for me! Overall I think this is a no brainer pick up. This would be a great gift for a graduation, a first watch or an everyday casual wear watch. You can't beat it! ... show more

I have many automatic watches and given my constant rotation, and the fact that there are times I'm around magnets, I realized it might be good to have a go-to black dialed quartz beater. I did a little research and this beauty came up. Great specs with all stainless steel construction, sapphire crystal, lumibrite, 100m wr, and Seiko branding, all for less than $150. And this watch borrows so many design cues on its dial, hands, case and bracelet, it seems like it's a knock off of the Grand Seiko SBGP005, which is no bad thing. It's refreshing to have a cheap watch not trying to be a Rolex, but rather a Seiko trying to be like it's big brother. It's also very clean with only Seiko on the dial. Yes the second hand doesn't hit all the marks but then again neither did my Omega aqua terra quartz (a $30 casio does, so go figure) and it obviously doesn't affect the function. At least it hits the 5" markers including the 12. There are also starburst blue and silver versions (sur309, sur307) as well as a 36mm option (sur317 blue, 319 black), though the 36mm has an 18mm bracelet. Bear in mind this 40mm watch wears slightly large because the dial is proportionately large with a slimmer bezel, though it is slim and has a reasonable lug to lug with inverted end links. The end links are hollow but fit really well and the links are hollow but fully pivot and are well finished so the bracelet is pretty good in my opinion for the price (definitely better than the Seiko 5 bracelets). So other than a G Shock this is the first quality watch I've purchased... And im absolutely over the moon with this thing. It feels so nice.. just the quality of the build..
