This watch was deigned to take the everyday rigors of an active lifestyle. I purchased this watch as a Christmas gift for my 16 year old grandson. He did all the research and I ordered the watch he preferred. I found it gratifying that this highly-Internet savvy young man would prefer a classic automatic watch to an electronic one or a Fitbit--even though he recognizes that it won't keep quite as good time as the typical electronic/quartz watch. (He also liked the idea of never having to replace a battery or charge it.) I have several Seiko watches (all quartz by the way) and like my grandson am fully aware of their excellent quality and the fact they are easy to read without glasses. I did a lot of research and decided this watch fits my criteria for style, accuracy, water resistance, and budget. I can't believe how great it is to use this watch. It feels extremely well made. I love having the Day/Date function. The blue Saturday and red Sunday are an elegant touch that truly exemplifies the lifestyle improvement of wearing a quality watch. The lume is surprisingly bright. I adjusted the band fairly easily with a precision screwdriver to get a good fit. This watch is awesome for the price! I was looking for an everyday watch with diver circles but no numbered bezel, this fits my needs perfectly! Quality bracelet and finish, the lumibrite is as nice as the expensive seikos. My particular watch was fulfilled thru Beach Cities Watch co, came in before 3 business days!; and I got a made in Japan model. Therefore, my 4r36 only loses about 3 seconds a day! A nice entry to mechanical watches. Mine loses about a second per hour. Within spec, but a little disappointing. The bracelet is pretty bad. This is hands down the best watch for daily wear. For the price, you won't find a better mechanism and craftsmanship in a watch. Seiko's are always a great choice, and this watch is cycling into my daily wear for work.

The chapter ring is a little misaligned and the bracelet is sub-par... but it’s a great deal for the money, a brilliant replacement for my previous Seiko 5 (snk803; another great watch, but too casual and doesn’t have hand-winding). If you like the aesthetic of the watch, then this is a no brainer in my opinion. Good build quality, good QC, decent bracelet, time tested movement. Wish it had a screw down crown and 150m of water resistance, but for $200, I shouldn’t complain.
